Star Wars Battlefront II

This game comes out at the end of the month for all the major consoles and PC. I have not played the first one, but I hear it's good. My problem is that it is slated primarily as a multiplayer game with some single player elements.

What do you think of the game? Are you going to buy it?

What's cool about it?

Lucas, I have Battlefront on the PS2 *Doesn't play newer PC games as my poor little laptop can't take the pace....That is untill I get my new desktop emoticon*

It is a very good game indeed, with many single player elements, such as Galactic Conquest, and Campaigns that allow you to fight for one side (Eg: Empire) then you switch to the Rebels.

My only gripe is the lack of Starfighters on each side, there are four sides all together.

Galactic Empire
Rebel Alliance

Galactic Republic
CIS

One thing that should have been included, was the ability to mix the factions (Maybe have the Rebels go up against the CIS)

Each factions have 5 types of units you can select and play as in each mission, they are

1) Soldier (Basic Combat)
2) Pilot (Ability to build and repair Equipment)
3) Sniper (Taking out Targets from a distance, my personal favorite)
4) Heavy Artillery (Make things go KABOOM!)
5) Special Units (Each one of these is different, Rebels: Wookie Smuggler, Empire: Dark Trooper, Republic: Jet Clone Trooper, CIS: Droideka)

All vehicles and ships can be flown by anyone of these units, the pilot is best for this as he can repair vehicles as he operates them. Vehicles include X-Wings, Jedi Starfighters, AAT's TIE Fighters and Bombers, Snowspeeders, and the dreaded AT-AT.

Trust me, the game is worth getting, a few months back, but if I were you, I'd wait till November for Battlefront II, It seems a lot bigger, with controlable Jedi (Jedi Heroes fight alongside your troops in Battlefront, but in II you apparently have the option to control them)

Re: Star Wars Battlefront II

I am definitely considering picking it up.

Has anyone here picked it up yet? What's good? what's not so good?

Right now I am a little strapped for cash, and this month my chief purchases will be Episode 3 (getting it tomorrow) and Family Guy Volume 3 (Season 4) which comes out on November 29th.

What I'm really excited about as far as games are concerned is 'The Movies' by Peter Molyneux. The guy who brought us such classics as;
Populous
Power Monger
Black & White
Black & White 2
Fable.

The Movies looks truly revolutionary....I will definitely read the reviews first, as it seems to be an impossibly ambitious title, so we shall see.

regards,
Lucas

My best description for Battlefronts, its paintball in a STORMTROOPER suit.

It reminds me of Halo II.

Okay, I bought Battlefront II, all I can say is, is that it's bigger and much better.

Yes you can play as Jedi and Sith, including Yoda, and you can play as non forcie heros such as the Fetts (Both of them) Leia and Han Solo.

The space battles are like playing the Gamecube versions of Rogue Squadron, they are good, and most ships from both PT and OT era's are covered.

But one of the most fun game types is called the Hunt, where you can play as indigenous species from certain planets, such as the Tusken Raiders vs The Jawa's on Tatooine, and yes, Imperials vs Ewoks on Endor *Notes the Ewoks are vicious little buggers*, Most of the Jedi and Sith Characters are covered (the OT Darth Vader is cooler than cool) And all the voices sound cool (Apart from the guy that did Han Solo's voice, sounded like he had a cold)

All in all, a great game worth spending some time playing...

Sweet! How do you play as a Fett? I just got it (PS2), only played a couple times. I'm trying to beat X-Men Legends 2 before I give Battlefront2 my full attention.

One small disappointment I had was that you seem to be only able to put one person in the Arc-170, when it is supposed to hold 3.

Okay, go to Instant Action, and add Mos Eisley to your list, start the battle and choose to fight for the Empire, I think you have to capture another Command post, or kill a number of Rebels, but when you do, you get the option to play as Boba Fett (Notes you play as Han Solo if you chose to fight for the Rebels). Choose yes and away you go, the controls for his Jetpack are the same as the Clone Jet Trooper, and he's armed with an E-33 (Although it looks like an E-11) a mini rocket launcher and a flame thrower. (Frying Jawa's is fun, and you get bacta emoticon. Evil bastard ain't I? heheee)

Ha! Playing Boba Fett is awesome! I also tried out being a Tuskan Raider and fighting Jawa's, pretty cool! I didn't expect the Jawa gun to be so powerful. Ouch! I brazenly waltzed out to take a few on and they fried me.

Have to say, I really like the Jedi though. Those super-jumps and lightsaber throws are really cool.

Thanks for the help Jace!

I bought the game for the X-box this afternoon and am really enjoying it, but one gripe I have noticed is that I cant use the thrusters in space combat even though it tells me I can during the tutorials.

I can sprint as a soldier, use thrusters in a ground vehicle but cannot thrust in a spaceship.

Is It just me or have other people noticed this.
