Theta Class Shuttle from Episode III

Theta Class Shuttle Image

Howdy Folks,

I'm new to the Deckplan Alliance just wanted to share the theta class shuttle I've started. It's got a considerable amount of glitches.. but it's getting there. Any input is welcome. The first mistake you'll note is that the ****pit should have a spot for 4 crew. (oops)

Now it states that the shuttle can have 16 passengers and carries a cargo of 50 tons. But looking at the ship I can't help but figure it's one or the other. Either the Ship is set to carry cargo or it's a troop transport... If anyone can shed light on this please do.

cheers

mark

Welcome to the forum!

Very nice work indeed! Looks really good for the beginning. emoticon

Now to some issues:
The cross-section book of Revenge of the Sith shows that the cøckpit has only two seats. One up front for the pilot and a second facing sidewards for the Gunner and Comm-Officer. There are no bunks in the neck, nor are there toilets and the seats are in the back of the ship, not in the front. The stern cannon is not man-operated and it is not accesible from inside, since there are some meters of machinery between the passenger room and the gun emplacement itself.
Between the cøckpit and the cabin are two pressure doors and they are more towards the back than yours are, since the cøckpit really is the whole cøckpit as seen from outside and not just the very front of it.

By the way, it would be cool if you changed the colors to those used in the gallery, but that is not necessary. I just think it would look nice, if everything is a bit uniform.

Oh, there doesn't seem to be any subdeck besides crawlspace and the hyperdrive is in the back behind the passenger cabin.

Ah, common. emoticon

Your deckplan of the Theta is really good work and I swear I didn't want to pull you down.

Its very solid work and if it was a fictional ship, there would have been much less to critizise. Most of the things I mentioned are cosmetic and easy to do. To get the hull done right is often much harder and yours looks pretty good to me.

Now show us that Marauder Corvette. emoticon
As far as I know there are no deckplans of the Marauder whatsoever, so you should not have to be concerned if any official sources contradict you. emoticon

Welcome aboard, marksimagination!

It seems you're off to a pretty spiffy start... though I'm going to echo Void here and recommend you getting the cross-section book. pretty much all books in that series are really good references. emoticon

marksimagination - this is very solid looking, I see that you have not posted here in a very long time...just wondering if you were still working on this, and I am very curious to see the Marauder Corvette you mentioned.

kind regards,
Lucas

...I think one should consider the lambda-class shuttle...which this ship seems to be an obvious predecessor to...look at that ship...and the lambda...and perhaps try to reverse-engineer to find a common ground...in any case...I think it's a good start...just needs to get a few more seasoned veterans here to help nurture it along...
 emoticon

...and as far as using the cross-sections books for reference....well, I think we all know exactly how well those are thought out...but I can only speak for me....when looking at inconsistencies like Y-wings having exterior hull-plating...and the interior to the Millennium Falcon being a tad goofy....I remember a big debate elswhere on these forums about the real value and validity of those cross-section books...and I'm of a mind to use them as a starting point...but not as an end-all, be-all holy bible of ship designing...even if they're the only real reference to go by....

...and on a side-note...I'd agree that the ship carries either the passengers...OR the cargo...not both...as there is already a precedent with alot of Imperial vehicles and ships...

What's that line... "in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king?"

No, the ICS are not the end-all be-all of ship design... but come to think of it, neither is any other source of reference we use. I doubt we'd be here if such a source did exist. emoticon
