Mark III Survelliance Droid

Mark III Survelliance Droid

Built by Industrial Automaton, the Mark III utilizes technology that would later be used on the Mark IV Sentry Droid. A central 'eye' holds thermal, electromagnetic, infared, temperature, visible light, distance sensors, and holorecording. It has a twenty-foot clearance via built-in repulsors, and can transmit data via ultra-high frequency transmission equipment, or store it on a eight hour transmission tape.

I like the design! How big is it?

I'm not being critical, but I am an imagery analyst by trade...

Thermal, Infrared, Temperature, Visilble Light - all of these are components of the Electromagnetic Spectrum.

Thermal and temperature are the same thing.

You might want it to read:

Mark III possesses imaging capabilities via Electro-Optical, Thermal-IR, Near-IR, Ultraviolet, and Passive Light Amplification. Also maintains the capacity for x50 optical zoom and holo/audio recording and playback. Mark III equiped with broadband communications transceiver and satellite relay as well as tight-beam laser communications package. Repulsor unit allows up to 20' ground clearance.

regards,

- Jake

Actually it depends on the context in which temperature is being used. Thermal imaging means seeing the various temperatures of objects. These are displayed using colors ranging from white to indicate the hottest items to black indicating items giving off no heat. Infared is exactly the same and was included by accident. Temperature, however, was included because it's a completely different sensor.

Temperature got lumped in with several types of visual sensors, and a sensor which detects distance by emitting a laser. The temperature sensor, unlike the thermal sensor, is not detecting the heat being emitted by objects, but is instead measuring the temperature of the surroundings.

So, the final statement would read:

The Mark III possesses imaging capabilities via Electro-Optical, Thermal-IR, Near-IR, Ultraviolet, and Passive Light Amplification. The Mark III is also equiped with a holo/audio recording capability featuring a 50x optical zoom, as well as a laser rangefinder and ambient temperature probes. The Mark III is equiped with a broadband communications transceiver and satellite relay system and can be purchased with an optional tight-beam laser communications upgrade. A Repulsor unit allows for up to 20' ground clearance, and provides the Mark III with excellent manuverability.

The Mark III posesses only a rudimentary brain, and is therefore capable of only processing simple orders. Memory upgrades are available, but even with these upgrades the Mark III is nothing more then a droid with simple cognative abilities.

Outside companies such as Allied Cybernetics have produced add-on features for the Mark III ranging from a simple grappler arm, to a small defense blaster equivalent in power to a hold out blaster. Allied Cybernetics has also boasted about creating an attachment which allows the Mark III to perform multiple tasks, and develop a personality, but if sucvh an attachment does exist it has not been seen on the open market.

Much more professional! I miss understood your use of temperature.

You may wish to change "distance detection" to "a laser rangefinder".

Can it only sense temp, or can it also measure humidity and wind speed? These might me worth while if the droid is to function as a spotter in addition to surveillance work.

Specter003, was that droid at all inspired by a movie know as "Insurrection"?

As for the Humidy and Wind Speed sensors, do it. Other than that I like it, this little droid might be showing up in my game.

It looks great Specter, are you going to make a docking port for it? And are you going to make the mark IV?

Only Insurrection I know is Star Trek Insurrection, and no...I designed this on a whim the other day from scratch...mostly. The concept came from something...I just don't remember...

Nope, didn't even consider it. I was actually drawing interior views of the Runabout Engine and I drew a head-on view and just something about it sparked my imagination and I drew the Mark III.
