OK we now have to separate what parts will go on the main site, and what parts will go on this forum.

The only parts that should go on the main site are those parts that belong or are used on ships found on the main site.

The parts need to be cropped tight (no white space around them) and the individual image files should be saved under their part number. These parts can then be put into a huge HTML table for easy access.

The same should be done for parts not used on the main site. They can be placed in a sticky thread in the reference section.

From my personal experience, I suggest we put all parts on the main parts. Those that are from listed ships as well as those that are not. A lot of visitory come to the website first, without looking through the forum and those parts are not only interesting for identification, but for modding as well. This is one of the greatest benefits of our/your deckplans. They are easy to mod. It is what brought me here and it is what brought others here. We should accommodate those visitors with a nice modding collection. If we are lucky, some of them will eventually become valuable members of the community.

An in-between solution would be to put the identification parts on the main page along with a direct link to the forum thread containing the rest.

And once more: Everybody who has interesting parts, please send them to me. Progress is good so far, but it has to be better. emoticon

Actually you read my mind Void. I planned to put a link to the "Forum Parts Collection" on the main site at the end of the parts list for the stock components.

"For additional parts for ship modifications please consult our SWDA forum - CLICK HERE"

I think your idea has more merit as a permanent setup to get more people to visit the forum. emoticon

Sure, that would draw more people to the forum. Most people visiting the deckplans do it because they want deckplans. Many of them will want to mod these deckplans, which brings them to that parts compendium and from there it is only a small step to the forum, when there is a flashy "More nice goodies here!!!" sign that links them here. emoticon

2Lucas: Who said you were weak minded, my master? I gotta slash him in half with that lightsaber of mine, or forcechoke him, if you like. I could record it on holo for you, so you could watch it over and over again. *chooo* *cough* *chooo* *cough*
