Can Any Member Identify This Film 1?

Set in late 1800s ( I think ).

Somewhat similar to the Duelist, a female challenges men to fight to prove herself and rob.

She duels with an older man and kills him with a run through.

Sets up ( by trickery ) a duel with the main man in a locked room. To put the play in her favour, she rigs his sword ( or he finds one ) with a fixed ball on the tip. She of course has a sharp pointed foil or rapier and indicates she is going to kill him.

She almost does him in, however he manages to kill her by thrusting his ball tipped weapon through the eye into her brain.

I think it was produced either late '60s or into the '70s.

Any idea of the name?

That one sounds a lot like "The Fencing Master", a feature film version of Arturo Perez-Reverte's mystery novel. The female is the one responsible for the trickery in that one, however, but the ending is the same.

Hope this helps, though there may be another movie with a similar scene out there somewhere.

Welcome to the board. emoticon

Circlesquare posted five clips last year, but they appear to have timed out. I'll repost them in the next few weeks as time during the holiday season permits (or circlesquare may repost them before I do). emoticon

Not sure about that one, but it sounds interesting.

Also, the door in "The Fencing Master" did not appear to be locked, so for all we know, there could be another movie out there, similar to "The Fencing Master", waiting to be discovered... emoticon

You know how often classic novels get made into movies, then remade over and over again.
(turns on TV and starts watching the 14th or 15th remake of "A Christmas Carol")
