I read somewhere, possibly on "KarateChics", and this is just a rumor, that the 5 vs. 300 scene was actually an elaborate training exercise for the girls. Presumably, all the blades would therefore be blunted, and no one would actually be injured in the scene.
Still, either way it's a fun scene, and its apparent exclusion from the movie could be the worst marketing move a movie studio could make. Didn't they learn anything after up to half an hour of footage (some of it shown in the trailer) was cut from the 1998 version of "The Avengers"?
Another wasted opportunity. Too bad. 
If anyone else can confirm this, please let us know.

The British version apparently kept the swordfighting scenes, based on this review.

Now one of the hot blondes (Helena) does take on about 20 guys in a big sword fight where she knocks them out with the flat part of the sword. That scene was very entertaining. Does that cheer everyone up a little?
That scene (top two photos) will be worth watching for.

According to Lunablu, posting on "The Deadly Angels", the 5 vs. 300 scene is in the movie - but what you can't tell from the trailer is that the moment the 300 charge is also the moment that the movie ends.
It's a cliffhanger.
Anyone else want to see a sequel?
