I know sometimes (since I've gotten my DVD/VCR) my friends want me to copy movies on DVD for them... sometimes I have to put the DVD on VHS... then back on to a different DVD. Sometimes it can be tricky tho.

Just a quick question for those of you who have DVD/VCR's.
Have any of you ever had a problem putting something that was on a blank tape (something you had taped on the television) onto a blank DVD?
Sometimes I get an error about 2 or 3 minutes into recording. Someting about not being recordable in +VR mode. (Whatever that is...) Or that the program can't be recorded.
It keeps doing that whenever I try to put the 'CHiPs' E! True Hollywood Story on DVD.

I swear I'll go insane if I can't get all my episodes and specials on DVD. :somad: :sosad:

I don't have a DVD/VCR, but sometimes wished I did. I have the Pinnacle system where you play the tape and it gets changed into digital going into the computer.

Then you take all the frames you want to keep and set them up to be recorded onto a DVD. It takes about 4 hours of time and several Gigs of hardrive to make it happen and then the Audio and Video don't always match up.

Sometimes alot of frames are dropped by this program and it gets very frustrating. But I have changed approx. 1.5 Seasons of CHiPs onto DVD until the good sets come out. I worry that my VHS will wear out before the real CHiPs start coming out. And as you say there are the specials too which are important to keep.

There are different formats for DVD's too?
I knew there were region codes for DVD's, but I thought the universal region code
(the one that works on everything) was Region 0.
Do DVD's come in PAL format? Or is it just that, if you record on to DVD from PAL, it stays the same?

Hmm...
I'm not sure I get how that works...
But if I can get a copy, I won't ask questions... I'll just be extremely happy.

You can set your DVD player to region "0" which should allow you to watch any DVD. But most of the DVD's here are recorded as NTSC and most of Europe is PAL. It does get complicated. :stars:

Works Perfectly! It's so much better quality than VHS... it's incredible. I'm very impressed.
