I am a halifax user, but even I can spot a fraud.
Please please if you get this in your mail do not Click the link at all.

In fact if ever you get anything like this in the mail for anything that asks you to put in your details and passwords from a link in the mail, NEVER click them links and then put details in. Go to the home page that you have bookmarked for your bank and then put in your details and find what you need.
If you are in doubt contact your bank.

I got that mail today too and I don't even know anything about Halifax so I just deleted the mail. It had some parts blocked by my virus protection so never opened anything up.

Thanks for the warning.

I got this last Friday and went striaght to my online account where i found no other notification in my inbox so I sent it to the Halifax and deleted it. It was the first line 'Dear Halifax Customer' that set alarm bells ringing cos Im sure online they refer to me by name
Ive also had one from the abbey that went straight in the bin cos I'm not an abbey customer

Re: Halifax users warning.

I just found the same email box in my Hotmail inbox, and one with the exact same wording from NatWest. The Halifax one was confusing to me, because Halifax is also the capital city of Nova Scotia. Then when I googled it, I made the connection to Halifax UK. I also figured it was fradulent in nature, so I blocked and deleted it.

Re: Halifax users warning.

I will remember to let you know if I get any strange mails. I do notice that when things come from these fradulent sources, they also say dear customer but when they come from the actual place (e-bay, paypal and such), they are normally addressed to me in person.

Also watch your cards closely. I know a woman that had her card used in Canada and she nor her husband were there or made purchases from there with their card. They go a call from the card company. They told them that people just sit at their computers and type in 16 digit numbers until they find one that will work and then they go on line and buy things. It is terrible to think that people have nothing better to do with their time.
