Poss News on the Movie.
Larry posted on his face book today that the movie has been scrapped. Its not official or been said anywhere else, so right now its just word of mouth. But he says he heard from Wilmer so it could spring to be true as he was going to play  .
I have mixed feelings about this.
1) It may be a good idea after what went down with Starsky and Hutch and The Dukes of Hazard. They were both rubbished.
2) I would still have liked to have seen this just to see what they could have done with it. I mean this could have been good if they got it right.
If Larry says more, or if I hear anything else I will let you know.
I have contacted Erik to see what he knows.

Awww...I must confess it wouldn't surprise me if it's been scrapped. Not just because of the credit crunch (although that may have been the final nail on it), but the long delay and the fact that they never did get around to casting Jon's part...as far as we know anyway....
It suggested to me that they thought it was a good idea at the time, but then on reflection maybe it wouldn't succeed?
I daresay in a time of financial difficulties the studios are only going to back projects they know for certain will be a success. Anything with an element of doubt is probably going to get the chop.

I have to say I'm not all that surprised if it has indeed been scrapped. I really never was totally behind this project. I always felt it would come off as a mockery of the original series and I did not want to see that happen.

I have to with Chicky. I would not have liked to have seen "CHiPs" spoofed.
If they had done a good job like they did on "Get Smart", then it could have brought a new generation of "CHiPs" fans on board.

I heard today from Erik..
With this. (Part of the mail)
'it has not been canceled and is currently in the works. A script is being worked on and it will eventually go to production.'
So now all we can do is wait and see what is what.

I have to that Dukes of Hazard and Starsky and Hutch were both duds. I really was never impressed with either one. I was worried that CHiPs might turn out the same way but maybe if Larry and Erik were able to help with the writing then it might not be bad. I"m sure they would keep it headed in the right direction. I think I would almost rather see another CHiPs 2010 or CHiPs 2011 than to see them try to redo the series. I think another problem with going back to the 70s for the time, they would be just making one very long episode or try to squeeze too much into it.
