GUIDELINES FOR GAMES
FIRST LETTER LAST LETTER-- Many words begin and end with the same letter. In this game you will be given a letter by the previous player and it is your task to come up with a word that has that letter at the beginning and the end.
Example: If the letter K is given, you might use or kayak. Once you play the word, you select a letter that you would like the next player to use.
CAUTION: Some letters just can’t be used. Be realistic when you give a letter. Try to avoid letters like Q, X, J, etc.
**************************************************************************
BUILDING ON A WORD -- This game is really quite simple. You will be given a word and all you have to do is build on it to make a new word. Once you have made a new word, please enter the word you want to have the next person build on.
Example: car is given. I can build on it by adding an ed at the end making cared. There are a great number of possibilities. Be creative. Just remember to give us a word to build on when you are finished.
**************************************************************************
FIVE LETTER THREAD -- This is a fun, yet challenging game where you build a sentence using the five letters you have been given. Each letter must be the first letter of a consecutive word in the sentence. You must use the letters in the order they are given. When you finish making your sentence, you supply 5 new letters for the next person.
Example: Letters TROLE are given. Here is a sample sentence that can be made using these letters. The rancher only likes elephants.
**************************************************************************
THIS OR THAT-- Basically this boils down to choose one and give the next person two things to choose from.
Example: Spinach or Carrots Let’s say I choose Carrots. Then I will give two items for the next person. ---- Fame or Wealth
**************************************************************************
POP THE QUESTION -- Basically this a trivia type game. A question is given and it is your task to come up with the answer. Once you have submitted your answer, please wait for the original asker to confirm that your answer is correct. Once you know you are correct, it is your turn to Pop the Question.
**************************************************************************
Rhyme Time -- This is a very simple game. A word will be given and your task is to reply with another word that rhymes with it. Then you supply us with the next word to be rhymed.
Example: Word given -- Love, your reply -- glove.
Then you give us a new word to be rhymed -- joy
And thus it continues.
**************************************************************************
TRICK QUESTIONS -- These are quite self-explanatory. Basically, they are brainteasers. Once your answer has been verified as correct by the player who asked the question, it is your turn to give a question or you can opt to let someone else submit one if you don’t have one.
**************************************************************************
TRAVEL CONNECTION-- This game is very similar to famous connection. In this game, a player writes the name of a city or a country. The next player replies with a city or country using the last letter of the previous answer.
Example: Dublin
Next player replies with: New Zealand
**************************************************************************
IN BETWEEN -- This is a very simple “create a word” game. You will be given two letters. The first letter is what the word must begin with and the second letter is the last letter of the word.
Example: B and G Word created: beginning
After you’ve created a word, please give us two letters for the next player.
***********************************************************************
FAMOUS CONNECTION
.Someone writes the name of a famous person.
.You reply with the name of another famous person, but their first name must start with the last letter of the previous name.
Example: Beyonce KnowleS Sharon Stone.
*****************************************************************************************
*******************************************
NAME THAT SONG --In this game a line or two of the lyrics will be given. It is up to you to identify the title of the song. If you can name the artist -- great -- if not, the title will suffice. Just wait until your answer has been confirmed as correct and them submit your lyrics.
*******************************************
TAGLINES AND JINGLES -- Just about every product has a tagline or jingle that is almost as famous as the product itself. In this game, you are to supply a tagline or jingle and the next person must guess what product it is for. Please wait for a response that your answer is correct before you submit your tagline/jingle.
Here a few examples:
Where’s the Beef?
Answer: Wendy’s
The World’s Online Marketplace
Answer: eBay
Don’t leave home without it
Answer: American Express
*******************************************
CASTING CALL --In this game, you will be given the names of characters in a TV show or a movie, or the names of the actors who played these characters. It is your challenge to name the show or movie.
Example: Larry Wilcox, Erik Estrada, Robert Pine
Answer: CHiPS
Once your answer has been confirmed, it will be your turn. Good luck and as always, have fun.
******************************************
LETTER CATEGORY-- If you’ve ever played the game Scattergories, this game is very similar. A letter will be given followed by three categorical questions. You must answer those questions with the letter that is given. You cannot start your answer with A, An, or The even if your letter is A or T. You are encouraged to be creative in your answers. If you can’t think of something that starts with the given letter and the category, try using adjectives in front of words such as “really sweet peach” or “Big Rocks.” Here’s an example of a few plays.
Letter Given: A
Questions: Name of Fruit
Girls Name
Article of Clothing
Player 1 Answers …..
Apple
Anna
Angora Sweater
Player gives Letter and 3 new questions
E
Things that are sticky

************************************
ABBREVIATIONS:
Very simple concept here. A player gives an abbreviation, next player replies with what the abbreviation stands for and then gives a new abbreviation.
Example:
Player: st.
Next player replies: Street and then give new abbreviation such as lb.
*It should be noted that one abbreviation can stand for more than just one thing.
*********************************
CHANGE A LETTER -- this is a simple, fun word game that allows you to make a new word by just changing one letter in the word given.
Example: You are given the word “firm.” You task is to make a new word by changing one letter in the word -- Exchange the “i” for an “o” and you will have the word “form.” Or you could exchange the “m” for an “e” and you would make the word “fire.”
After you have made a new word, supply another one for the next player to change. I should caution though that you make sure the word you give can be actually be changed. Good Luck and have fun.
***********************************
HOMOPHONIES-- Ho honies are one or more words that sound the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings. Examples are: two, to and too --- blue and blew -- their and there, etc.
In this game you will be given a word that is a ho hone. You must reply with that words ho hone and then give a new word. Just be careful and be sure that the word you supply is a ho hone.
Here’s an example of how the game goes.
Word give: prints
Your reply: prince
You give a new word: dear
***********************************
MAKE A SENTENCE WITH 4 -- Here you will receive 4 words from the previous player. You must use these words in a sentence. You may use additional words, of course, to make your sentence. You do not have to use the words in the order they are given to you. However, one of those words given by the previous player must be the first word of the sentence and another word (given by the previous player) must be the last word of the sentence. Upon completion of your sentence, you supply 4 new words for the next player.
Example: RABBITS, HOPPING, FUNNY, LAWN
Rabbits hopping on the snowy lawn looked very funny.
Don’t forget to give the next set of words.
*****************************
Mystery Letters -- In this game, a word will be given but every other letter will be missing. Your task is to fill in those blanks to complete the word. Upon doing so, you will then give a new word with every other letter missing. Please use a dash, hyphen or asterisk to indicate the missing letter. In this game, proper spelling is important.
Example.
M *T*R*Y*L* == Fill in the missing letters and the word is Motorcycle. Now it is your turn to give a word with Mystery Letters.
***************************
SUM IT UP-- This is a game involving numbers. You will be given a number (all numbers used as a sum must be under 1000.) You must use the mathematical functions (Addition, subtraction, multiplication or division) to make the number you have been given the sum or product of the equation.
Here are some examples:
Given Number 500
250 + 250 = 500 or 510-10= 500 or 5 x 100 = 500 or 2500 / 5 = 500
You only have to provide one equation and then give us a new number to work with. Remember all numbers you give must be under 1000. It is acceptable, however, to use higher numbers in your equations to get to your sum.
************************
Make a Name -- This is a very simple game. You will be given 3 letters (initials) and you will use each of those letters to form a name ( first, middle, last/sir name) for both female and male. The name must use the letters in the order they are given. Here’s how it goes.
You are given A N W
Amelia Nicole Winston -- Female’s Name
Anthony Neil Wallace -- Male’s Name
Now you give 3 letters for the next person.
*************************
Three Things -- In this game you will be given a one word topic to which you must list three things about that topic.
Example: Clock
1. Tells time
2. Has a face
3. Has hands
After you have listed your three things, you give the next one word topic.
****************************
SCRAMBLED STARS -- You goal here is to unscramble the letters in a famous person’s name to reveal the actual name. Once you’ve deciphered the name, give us the next one. Please allow a space between first and last names.
Example: nlaa dlaa Unscrambled the name is Alan Alda
*************************
AKA (Also Known As)-- Many famous people do not go by their birth names. In this game, you will be given their original name and your task is to reply with the name they are known by to the public.
Example: Henry Enrique Estrada AKA Erik Estrada
Some names will be quite obvious while others may require a bit of research. Please wait for confirmation of your answer before posting a new name.
************************
Make Me Famous is very simple. You will be given a first name. You must add a last name to make it a famous person.
Example:
Name given -- Donald
Now add a last name to this to make it a famous person's name
Donald Trump
Once you've made the name -- please provide us with a new first name.
