Re: Orangeblossom Bramble of Willowbottom: A History
Aging my Lily rather quickly, aren't we? Just barely get her born, and already she's the eldest!

Re: Orangeblossom Bramble of Willowbottom: A History
By now, Frodo had become the patriarch of the Shire. He reached tentatively for Lily. “May I?” he asked
“Of course.” Orangeblossom smiled, gladly surrendering her daughter.
Lily was so good—she hardly made a sound at the transition.
“Welcome to the Shire, little Lily.” Frodo spoke softly and tenderly to the little bundle of joy.
“Lily Twofoot,” he continued, “may you always be aware of the love around you—and the love within your own heart.”
Orangeblossom smiled. She had always been aware of it—had been ever since she was born.
She glanced at the happy faces around her. They had all proven their worth over her lifetime. Oriothon and Bariathan, of course, for bringing her up as best they could. Sam and Frodo—for being the best companions she could ever hope for. Merry and Pippin—for helping her get over her marriage fears.
And Siagrin—Siagrin, most of all, for taking her in when she lay dirty and tired in the streets of Michel Delving, and for being what she needed most—someone who cared enough about her to suggest going home when remaining was no longer an option.
Yes, she realized—she was aware of the beauty around her—the beauty of the loving hearts that now surrounded her. She wished there were a way to capture this moment—a moment filled with people who loved her and wished only the best for her. She knew she would remember these days for the rest of her life!

Re: Orangeblossom Bramble of Willowbottom: A History
Just when you thought it was the end....
The days passed quickly for Orangeblossom and family. Then one fateful day, Sam and Frodo came to see her.
“This is a surprise,” she said, as she greeted them warmly.
Then she noticed that they didn’t return her greeting with the same enthusiasm.
“What is it?” she asked, holding Sam at arm’s length.
“We have just returned from a long and arduous quest,” Sam said, taking Orangeblossom’s hands in his own. “We’re back safe and sound, as you can see, but I’m afraid Frodo—”
Orangeblossom gasped at the mention of Frodo’s name. She turned in his direction, waiting for further explanation.
Frodo had had his hands clasped in front of him, and now he took hers in his own.
Orangeblossom gasped. For the hand on top seemed to have lost its ring finger—in a most gruesome mutilation!
“It was a dirty job,” he said solemnly, “but it had to be done.”
“I’m just glad you’re alive,” Orangeblossom said, holding him in her arms. Tears of relief flowed from her eyes.
“Hey,” Frodo smiled, as he wiped the tears from her eyes. “Enough about me—how have you been?”
Orangeblossom managed to crack a smile. “I’ve been okay,” she confessed. Her hands were drawn instinctively to her chest area.
“You don’t mean…” Sam and Frodo drew closer.
“Yes,” she admitted, blushing. “There’s another bun in the oven. And yes,” she added, laughing, “Siagrin knows about it this time.”
“What does Lily think?” Sam smiled as he saw the wee lass peeking out from behind her mother.
“Mewwy,” was all Lily could say. “Pewegwin.”
Orangeblososm just laughed as she picked up her daughter. “She’s looking forward to the baby, too,” she replied. “She’s just excited because Merry and Pippin are coming over. They don’t know about this baby,” she added, laughing.
“So she’s found some companions of her own.” Frodo smiled. “That’s wonderful.”
“Yes, I think they were the perfect choice.” Orangeblossom smiled. “You two must’ve had your hands full just taking care of me, I’m afraid,” she laughed.
“It was no problem, sweet Blossom,” Sam smiled, placing a kiss on her cheek.
“No problem at all,” Frodo added. “We were glad to do it.”
Suddenly, two horses galloped to the hobbit hole. Could it be...?
“What’s all the commotion about?” a familiar voice inquired.
“Mewwy!”
Lily scurried around her mother into Merry’s waiting arms.
“She’s just like you,” Sam laughed.
Pippin reached up and ruffled Lily’s hair. “What a ray of sunshine,” he laughed.
“I believe there’s someone else who would like to see you two,” Sam laughed, motioning toward Orangeblossom.
“Mercy me, I didn’t even see you there,” Merry laughed, putting Lily down just long enough to greet Orangeblossom. He found himself running into an obstacle.
“You don’t mean…” he whispered, backing away.
“Yes,” Orangeblossom laughed, as he and Pippin approached. “There’s another one.”
“Congratulations!” Pippin grasped Orangeblossom’s hands and gave her a hug and a kiss on her cheek. “We’re looking forward to this one as well!”
“I can’t promise,” Orangeblossom laughed, “that I won’t take my frustrations out on you again.”
“Hey, don’t worry about it,” Merry laughed. “We knew you wanted us there—and we’ll do our best to come this time.”

Re: Orangeblossom Bramble of Willowbottom: A History
Sam couldn’t sleep. Something was wrong—terribly wrong—but he couldn’t figure out what it was.
In the distance, he heard faint cries. The little hobbit hole Orangeblossom and Siagrin called home wasn’t far away. Maybe…?
He attempted to get out of bed without disturbing the sleeping Frodo. Unfortunately, his attempt to rise from a sitting position made the bed creak a little louder than usual.
He froze, wondering if Frodo had awakened. Looking back quickly, he saw Frodo stir in his sleep, but that was the only activity.
He made his way toward their window. Off in the distance, he could see Siagrin and Orangeblossom’s hobbit hole. Light was definitely coming from the facing window. He slipped outside, wanting to get a closer look.
Suddenly, he heard hoofbeats approaching the hole. He could barely make out the anxious figures of Merry and Pippin.
Pippin must have realized they were being watched, for he motioned to Sam. Sam could barely make out the words, “Bring Frodo. Hurry.”
That settled it. They had to come. By now, Frodo had awakened. “What is it, Sam?”
“I think Blossom needs us again,” Sam said, “and this time it may be serious.”
The two made a mad dash toward the hobbit hole. Already she was screaming at the top of her lungs, writhing with labor pains.
In no time at all, they had reached Orangeblossom’s bedside. She was wet with perspiration, a little delirious from the whole ordeal.
No sooner had they reached her side than the next member of the Twofoot family made its appearance.
Its cries were a welcome sound, as Orangeblossom collapsed on the bed from sheer exhaustion.
Her heart was going pitter-pat from all the effort put into the delivery, so it took a while for Orangeblossom to recover. But she was not too exhausted to reveal the name of this new baby:
“Marigold…Marigold Twofoot,” she whispered, smiling weakly.
“We can call her Mary for short,” Pippin smiled.
“That’s a roundabout way to name a baby after me,” Merry laughed, “but I’m touched all the same.”
“I would have used the same spelling, too,” Orangeblossom replied with a smile, “if it had been a boy.”
The others weren’t the least bit jealous, as they all crowded around to see wee Mary.
