Hey Nathy-wathy-nay-la, is it alright if I mention bits of you in my History? I want to mention the House of Elestar and Amon Din, because it would make parts of mine a little more realistic-but only if it's alright with you!emoticon

Ok emoticon I'm putting the finishing touches on the 2nd part of my history, and then I'll be able to post the 3rd part fairly quickly, for I was going to put them all together, but I decided to hurry and post the 2nd part so I could move on.emoticon

History of Asenath Lhundelor Part 5

The spiraling stairs led Asenath up high, where she walked along a platform among the tree branches to a beautifully lit home. The roofs of the various rooms and porches joined all in one around the trunk, the structure of intricate design and mysticism that stood below molded in and around the base, with colors that brightened even in the softest light, illuminating the crown of the tree.

A small white bridge arched from one balcony to another, connecting the home to an entirely different, much smaller tree. The light from the tree shone out across the bridge, and welcomed Asenath to that which was her bedroom.

There, in a small circular room, sat a long bed in a canopy of lavender satin and silvery coverings. A tall wooden bookcase stood across, carved with flowers and tiny birds. Next to it was a chair, draped in comfort, by a small table, on which was laid a long handsome bow, and a beautiful quiver of arrows, with trailing white feathers. All of Asenath's belongings were collected on two shelves above the table. A little wooden box, decorated with purple ribbons, holding Nim Nee's brush and some necklaces. A lavish basket, with sweet fragrances and mementos from Asenath's childhood. A few books, a sewn pillow, a locket, and a jewelry box, containing no more than dried wild flowers and some shiny white and turquoise pebbles.

Asenath went to the window near her bed and opened the shutters, a voice moved through the rustling trees. A distant Elf sang a lovely song to the night, young with splendor and secrets. Asenath then went to her chair, and lifting her bow, she sat down, placing it in her lap, gazing at it dreamily.

"Asenath?" She heard outside her bedroom, the voice of her mother.

"I am home now." Asenath said as she rose, walking to the voice.

She was met with a tall and majestic Elf, who's eyes were warm and wise, and who's smile expressed un-witheld joy. Her hair flowed over her shoulders and down her back, dark as Asenath's. It swayed as gently as her movements as she drew closer, in a robe of silver like the frost in winter, with a complexion of the same wonder. She met her daughter at face level, and Asenath smiled, looking shyly down at the bow she still held in hand.

"And what is this?" Selmathin asked, tracing the bow with her fingertips.

Asenath grew hesitant, but then spoke. "I know I should have asked first, but I practice with it so often, I will return it to your room." She said, and began towards the doorway.

"Asenath, all of your father's things belong to you. It would not be fitting to have it elsewhere." Selmathin replied. "I will not miss it nearly as much as you will."

Asenath paused, and held the bow close, then walked back to the table. She turned, and her mother was met with a pair of eyes filling with such daring excitement. "I am thinking of competing in Viresse, with the other Lorien Elves." Asenath said.

"Is that what you have been training for? Asenath, time and training all lead to skill, but only the very best carry their bows to the archery range, many sporting years before you were born in the Woods." Selmathin answered.

"I am young, but I am skilled also. I want to try. I want to tell Vyne I'm going to Caras Abriel in Viresse, and use my bow in the tournament there. I can take Nim Nee for companionship. Vyne will not want to go, Zethloryn will be there. She has ignored Zethloryn ever since she fell for Elidye [ee-li-dye], the Elf our Umae is so fond of." Asenath explained.

Selmathin laughed, and the quiet of the trees stirred with a gentle wind, as if adhering to her merriment. "You go with Nim Nee, then, and bring Umae." she instructed. "Speak with Elidye for her sake, you know that Umae is shy. Zethloryn is one of many desires, but no more wiser in years, and her heart is often unreadable. The romance of youth embodies a happiness easily forgotten among our people, and should be granted to those still in it's grasp, before the wisdom of age grows at peace with self. Umae's family has survived the travails of Mirkwood, and joy is much due to her, patient and kindhearted as she is. I believe that Elidye is a fine Elf, who may become worthy of Umae."

"I will speak with Elidye, I certainly will!" Asenath promised, delighted at her mother's interest in this affair. "And I have never shown him my bow." she included, most importantly.

Selmathin smiled pleasantly, sitting down on the edge of Asenath's bed. She patted the place next to her, and Asenath joined her there. The two Elves resembled each other greatly, looking both to the window in thought, neither spoke. Asenath then let her head rest on her mother's shoulder, and they watched the moonlight dance alluringly before them, as it would on no other night. The heights of the forest strayed from movement and sound, and the air became chilled and sweet.

_______________________________

The month of Viresse came, and Asenath, along with Nim Nee and Umae, began the long walk to Caras Abriel, a small part of Lothlorien northeast of Caras Galadon, where festivals and gatherings were often held, and where the family of Nimbreth dwelt, Elidye being one of the grandchildren of Lord Maranwe. They met with Nierestel while passing through, who had found an abundance of wilwarins [butterflies] in Lightwind meadow due to the spring, and was delighted to share a song or two with them. They laughed and talked until they came to the Tree of Tiri, well known for it's radiant blossoms, and parted ways there.

Once they arrived at Caras Abriel, lady Rilma, Maranwe's wife, tended to them as her guests, telling them that Selmathin had told her of their coming when she and her sister had visited the House of Elestar a month earlier. Asenath was grateful for this, and she and Umae made themselves at home in Maranwe's dwelling.

One day before the tournament began, Asenath and Umae sat by a pool of water that came to the edge of Maranwe's house under the mallorn trees, and Nim Nee laid next to Asenath. As they spoke with one another, a handsome Elf walked purposefully, and every so quietly, passed them and up the steps. And though Elves often walked passed here, something caused them both to look.

"Asenath, did you see who that was?" Umae spoke in no more than a whisper, her soft golden hair stirring in the breeze.

"Seflore from Neverwinter, we aren't alone here after all." Asenath replied.

"Seflore is a friend of Elidye, perhaps he is looking for him." Umae said. Her face then became sad. "But he will not return until tomorrow."

"Until then we shall wait, and I promise to speak with him. Seflore is most likely aware of Elidye's absence, he is probably visiting Maranwe. Had Vyne known he was going to be here, she would have come with us, that is for sure." Asenath said.

"Asenath Lhundelor, and Umae Ehtele." A voice rose behind them.

"Meneldor!" Umae smiled, rising to her feet.

"Where Seflore is, you can be sure I am not far away." Meneldor smiled in return, then lowered his eyes to Asenath. "How are you Asenath?"

"I am well." Asenath replied, catching quickly the way Umae looked back and forth between the two of them.

"We have a festival of our own this time of spring which may have suited you better at home in Neverwinter, what brings you to Caras Abriel?" Meneldor asked either of them.

"Asenath is going to win the archery tournament!" Umae exclaimed.

Meneldor grinned to himself. "Is that so."

Asenath's mouth firmed. "It is."

"Have you even a bow my lady?" he asked.

"You know that I do." Asenath answered, eyes punishing him for teasing. "And you, have you come only to watch?"

"I will be participating as well, along with Seflore, who is quite a good aim, I might add. Actually, Seflore is asking permission from Maranwe if we may go hunting on his grounds...you wouldn't care to join us, would you? I'm sure everyone is eager to observe your skills, Asenath." Meneldor said, eyes glinting. He had piercing blue eyes that were hard to reject, they penetrated deep into the face of whomever he was looking. Yet he had a harder face than that of Seflore, and his hair, though light, was darker than Seflore's.

"Hunting?" Umae sounded frightened.

"I'm afraid not, such an excursion would cause great distraction to me. And Nim Nee does not like hunting." Asenath informed Meneldor, stroking the mane of the gentle horse with adoration.

"Nim Nee can stay behind, and, how can time spent with friends be of any distraction to you?" Meneldor asked.

"Your inability to focus is what shall cause failure to you tomorrow. Honestly Meneldor, your father is a wise Elf, I am surprised with you." Asenath said, looking at him detestably.

"Woe to me." Meneldor smiled.

It was not until Seflore joined them that Asenath was persuaded to go along, and Umae decided to stay behind with Nim Nee. Asenath retrieved her bow and changed her clothing, and the three of them went among the woods to the border of the forest. There Asenath silenced all doubt when small creatures at great distances fell to her aim.

The History of Asenath Lhundelor Part 5

"Umae! We have to be going now, where are you?" Asenath walked the halls of Maranwe's house in search of her friend. It was the day of the tournament, and Asenath was dressed and ready to leave. Her hair was pulled into a braid, and she wore a long gray tunic, her bow on her back.

Umae emerged from within a doorway, somewhat frantic. She took Asenath by the hand, and they fled. Why they were fleeing, Asenath did not know. "Umae, slow down!"

Umae would not stop until they were outside, way outside.

"I'm sorry! Elidye--Elidye spoke with me!" Umae said, eyes wide with terror and excitement.

Asenath's gravely worried expression changed, she smiled. "Is that all?"

"No! I mean, well, yes. But, he said good morning. And he said it in a wonderful way--good morning," Umae beamed.

Asenath laughed. "Sounds like you had an unforgettable encounter with dear Elidye, at last." She said.

Supposing it would be smooth sailing from here on out, Umae happily returned, "What about you, Asenath? What about Meneldor? You've always been good friends. He is such a lovely Elf." She said, the two of them finding a pathway in the forest.

Asenath thought to herself for a moment. Then said, "He is that."

All the Elves were lovely Elves. Perfect in every way, it seemed. She would have liked to see one fall over, just once, or hear a boom, like the way her father used to laugh.
She had never been smitten with any Elf, and contemplated other things more often than not. Nim Nee was her best friend, and she enjoyed doing the things she was good at. And someday, she wanted to do more.

The two came to a meadow in the forest, a place completely void of trees as if to accommodate such activities as festivals. There were many Elves gathered, and tables with sweet drinks and baskets of food. The archery range could be seen, and beyond it, tents and pavilions, where pottery makers and craftsman displayed beautiful things, and where similar tournaments were already underway.

Umae took it all in, but Asenath's eyes stared only to the archery range. "Look! Seflore." Umae smiled.

"The archers are readying, wish me luck." Asenath said.

"Best of luck!" Umae hugged her. "My dear Asenath, I only wish our Vyne were here to see you shine."

Asenath smiled nervously. "Perhaps it is one less person to have seen me lose."

The archers, all male Elves save Asenath, walked to their positions, and Asenath followed. She looked in the distance to the target, and did not like the way her stomach fluttered. Nervously, she brought her bow around, and tried to look as patient as those on each side of her.

"Positions!" A voice seemed to call through the trees. The music faded, and many of the Elves grew silent. Asenath felt interested eyes upon her, and heard the confident firming of feet next to her as the other Elves raised their bows.

She shook her head, and cleared her mind, quickly reaching for an arrow from her back. The last to ready her bow, the voice then called out, "Begin!"

A whistling rushed passed her as arrows flew and bows twigged. She found her target, then, in a split second, when a knowing comes to an archer that they've found their mark, she suddenly released.

Applause and voices rose up. Asenath quickly lowered her bow to see how she did, bullseye. She turned her head to those next to her, some were looking at her, others were readying their bows again. She searched the crowd quickly for Umae, but was unsuccessful. She drew another arrow, and raised her bow.

Another bullseye.

The bystanders clapped with delight. And this time Asenath nearly laughed to herself with disbelief, and was sent a serious glance by the tall Elf next to her, looking unpleasantly challenged. With eyes still on her, he drew his next arrow.

Asenath looked away with uneasiness. What was his problem? She ignored him and drew her next arrow as well. One of the white feathers that crowned it's end broke away, and as the wind lifted, it sailed high into the trees, where Haldir, Chief Guardian of the Woods stared down upon her.

Night fell, and word spread through Caras Abriel that Asenath Lhundelor, from the western woods of the Forest, had won the archery tournament that day. After spending the evening celebrating, Asenath and Umae returned to Maranwe's house. Elidye met Asenath with congratulations, and Asenath invited him to walk with she and Umae.

And even though Umae spoke more than usual, her shyness soon overtook her and she kept quiet for the most part.

"Seflore made for a good challenge, he could have easily placed first." Asenath told Elidye, discussing the events of the day. She stroked Nim Nee's soft shiny mane, the horse walking alongside her as usual. It was a very quiet and still night, and silver clouds passed over the moon, sending what light playing across their faces fading to blue shadow.

They came to a stream, where Asenath brought Nim Nee down to drink. Then the three Elves sat down, and Elidye talked to them about things that he had heard, things happening outside of Lothlorien. It frightened Umae, and she was intensely vigilant of every movement in the night around them.

Asenath asked him many questions. What was happening in the land of Men? Why were there so many battles going on? It was all so needless. So she thought.

The mentioning of Mordor brought them all to silence, and Asenath wondered what terrible evil lurked unchallenged in the East. She knew not the scale of such things, but she did know that it brought her mother to tears, and grieved her grandfather.

Elidye saw Umae's discomfort, and changed the subject to something much lighter. He began to ask her about the berries of Neverwinter she loved to pick so much, and if she could make him anything yummy.

It thrilled Asenath to see him taking interest in her, perhaps she would not even have to tell him anything about Umae, Umae seemed to be talking quite freely. Berries were her best topic of discussion, the Ehtele's of Neverwinter baked with berries unlike any other Elven family, and the berry festival held each Viresse was hosted by Umae's aunt.

As Asenath listened to them talk, she swished her hand around in the cool water, and as she looked into the water, the moon reappeared from behind the clouds, sending reflections across the stream. And Asenath saw someone.

She quickly lifted her head, and looked behind her. There stood a face she was unprepared to meet. She rose up, as the other two realized what was going on. Nervously she stared as Haldir of Lorien bowed. He was tall with a very commanding presence, long golden hair, and tensely eyes, dressed in uniform.

She had only seen him once before, and had admired him ever since. He was brave and full of courage, leading all the Guardians of the Galadhrim. Awed and greatly frightened, Asenath tried to greet him properly, but for the first time in her life, she stuttered.

She then bowed. "I am Asenath, daughter of Selmathin of the Lhundelor's of Neverwinter."

"Master Haldir, I am Elidye, son of Lord Maranwe." Elidye bowed after her.

Umae bowed also. "I--can make berry fritters." She said. Then frowned, looking away.

Haldir looked passed Asenath at Nim Nee, then smiled. "You have brought her with you to the northeast woods?"

Asenath nodded happily. "Yes, my horse and I..." she began, then remembered who he was, "...what have you come for, Master Haldir?"

"I was told I would find you here from Lord Maranwe. I attended the tournament today, as I do each year. My congratulations, lady." Haldir said.

"Thank you." Asenath bowed once more.

"You are quite impressive with a bow for an Elf of so few years. And you have your father's spirit." Haldir told her.

"You knew my father?" Asenath asked quietly.

Umae's eyes grew wide.

"I did." Haldir replied. "A Man of great courage."

Elidye's eyes flew to Asenath. "Asenath, I did not know...I did not know that you father was a Edan."

"Of course he was." Umae said.

"Yes Umae, but she never told me before." Elidye said with amazement. "I thought your father was killed in one of our battles?"

"He was." Haldir answered. "He fought with the Elves."

"He was an Anorien. I am Half-Elven." Asenath told Elidye.

Elidye suddenly looked at her very differently, then caught himself. "I'm sorry Asenath, I am only surprised. All this time I thought...well, I don't suppose it matters much." he lowered his head.

"Elves with the blood of Edain are rare, I know. All is well Elidye." Asenath replied.

"Asenath, I wish to accompany you back to your home and meet with your grandfather." Haldir said.

The three looked among themselves excitedly. "You--you do?" Asenath humbly replied.

Haldir nodded. "It has been long since I have seen your mother, as well. We will depart at dawn, will that suit you?"

"Yes, of course, we'll be ready to leave." Asenath complied.

Haldir then said farewell to them, and left them by the stream. The walk back was terribly quiet. Elidye seemed completely awed at Asenath's new identity, and Umae become too shy again to say anything at all.

Asenath was too busy thinking about Haldir to speak to either of them.

Re: History of Asenath Lhundelor

The History of Asenath Lhundelor Part 6

Morning came, and Asenath and Umae had gathered their things into two sacks, which they carried beside them. In her other hand Asenath held her gold arrow, which she had won from the archery tournament. With her bow and quiver on her back, she went to retrieve Nim Nee and bring her to the garden, where Haldir stood speaking with Lord Maranwe, and where Umae kept her eyes on Elidye.

It was a chilly spring morning in Lothlorien, and while Asenath brought Nim Nee around, she could smell delicious things baking. Smells coming from Maranwe's house, warm nut lereth and luin berry cakes, and apsa tea. And while passing the Elves that came and went, Asenath thought how lively this place was compared to Neverwinter. Many of the Elves headed to Maranwe's study hall, overflowing with wonderful things to read. Others left for Caras Galadon for the day, or went out to the gardens, to care for the fruit trees or gather herbs.

Asenath saw Umae now held her bag in one hand, and a basket in the other, filled with wrapped gifts, from Rilma to Selmathin. The two stood nearby as Haldir exchanged farewells with Lord Maranwe. And all the while Umae and Elidye maintained an exchanging of glances. This reminded Asenath of what her mother said, and she had not spoken with Elidye yet.

She and Umae started to follow Haldir from the garden, when Asenath stopped. "Umae, will you go ahead with Nim Nee? Lord Haldir, I will follow shortly, I must briefly speak with someone before we return to Neverwinter."

"Go on, Asenath." acknowledged Haldir, not burdened in the least.

Asenath quickly laid her bag on Nim Nee, then hurried back to the garden where Elidye followed his grandfather inside. "Elidye!" she called to him, causing the both of them to turn. "May I speak with you a moment?" she asked.

"Of course." said Elidye.

Maranwe bowed to Asenath and proceeded inside, while Elidye approached her. "What is it?" he asked.

"I meant to speak with you about this before. Now I only have a brief moment." Asenath shook her head at herself. "It is about Umae...Elidye, what do you think of her?"

A small smile came to Elidye's face. "You sound like Vyne."

Asenath knew Vyne was well known for her desire to match-make, and dreaded the idea of being likened to it. She sighed. "Does this mean you are not going to answer my question?" she asked.

"I rarely see Umae, the Ehtele's only lived in Caras Abriel a brief time before traveling to Neverwinter, and Umae left with them." said Elidye, discouraged. "I cannot understand why they left."

"It was my grandmother, Velindelor, who invited Umae's family into Neverwinter. You see, after coming from Mirkwood, Neverwinter offered peace like no other place. And while your grandfather has powerful foresight, my grandmother has great healing power of mind, which they needed to recover from war. And they rarely leave there, just like my mother. Had it not been for my grandmother, my mother would have died from grief, because of my father's death. But even though Umae and her family have a life in Neverwinter, and are unable to visit often, Umae thinks of no one else but you, Elidye, and the time she spent in your grandfather's house, after leaving Mirkwood." said Asenath.

Elidye's eyes softened, he lowered his head. "I wish she would have said something."

"She becomes shy, but she has told me how she feels. And if you care for her Elidye, please, come to Neverwinter some time this season. I know she will be waiting." said Asenath, placing her hand on his arm.

As he lifted his head again, she turned away, and headed quickly from the garden, leaving him in thought. She hurried through the woods until she found Nim Nee in the trees, and caught up with Haldir and Umae.

"Asenath, did you speak with Meneldor?" asked Umae eagerly, meaning to whisper, sounding no where near quiet.

"No." answered Asenath, eyes monitoring Haldir nervously. Did Umae have to speak of such nonsense in front of him?

"Who did you speak with then?" Umae's eyes widened. She glanced at Haldir, then mouthed, 'Elidye?'

"Yes." smiled Asenath. Yet, even though happy she finally spoke to him, she wondered about whether Elidye would ever travel to Neverwinter or not. Umae would keep dreaming of him, either way.
