The History of Cailinn Elanesse
The History of Cailinn Elanesse Part 1
In the land of Lothlorien, in Neverwinter, the twinkling lights of lanterns began to appear everywhere as evening turned to dusk. The sky was becoming a stunning royal blue as the remains of the lustrous sunset faded away into night loveliness. The tiny glow of fireflies flickered here and there as they flitted among the treehomes, and the sweet scent of elanor was heavy in the air.
An Elven maiden was standing on the wooden balcony of the old, yet beautiful, House of Lord Selor. She wore a gown of white silk and her long, golden hair was drawn halfway up in a braided coiffure while the rest fell in curls down her back. Her nut brown eyes gazed dreamily out over the land.
"Lady Cailinn," a voice called from behind.
Cailinn turned to find an auburn-haired girl dressed in green in the doorway of the balcony. It was her friend Valia Laurdunya.
"Valia, you know you don't have to call me that," she said smiling.
Valia laughed and moved to her friend's side.
"I know. I just like to tease you. What are you doing out here all alone?"
"Just enjoying the night," Cailinn sighed contentedly," I was going to go to the festival in the Twilight Valley, but I didn't want to make Nimue walk that far since his ankle isn't quite healed yet from his injury, a few weeks ago."
Valia smiled understandingly. She knew how much Nimue meant to Cailinn. He had been given to her by her father the year before he was killed and so he was very special to her.
"I was just about to take him on a short walk through the Starlit Woods," Cailinn said," You may come if you wish."
"Yes, I'd like that; a walk would be nice on this beautiful night," Valia replied.
The two Elves left the House and got Nimue from the stables. He was a black horse with black mane and tail and a white star on his forehead. Cailinn loved him very much, and Nimue loved her.
They made their way to the Starlit Woods enjoying their walk as they went. A warm breeze had sprung up since earlier in the evening and was now stirring the leaves on the trees and setting little patches of wildflowers dancing.
"Tell me what you think of Loreth, Cailinn," Valia said," His father knew your father well. Would it not be his wish for you to marry his good friend's son?"
Cailinn turned to Valia with surprise.
"No, it would not be his wish. My father never liked Loreth, and I do not like him now. Why do you wonder?"
"There is talk of him leaving Lothlorien to go to Gondor and I was only worried of you leaving with him," Valia said.
"No, there isn't any danger of my leaving with Loreth, do not worry," Cailinn laughed," Although," her tone changed to one of seriousness, "it would be exciting to ride wherever you feel like, perhaps to Mirkwood, perhaps to a land completely different. I have heard so many interesting tales."
"What are you saying, exactly?" Valia asked quietly.
Cailinn lowered her eyes and gently stroked Nimue's glossy black coat.
"What would you say if I were to leave Lothlorien, only by myself, with just Nimue?"
"Would it not be dangerous?"Valia asked with an added note of fear in her voice.
"I have my bow and my dagger, and you know Nimue and I can ride as fast as any man. I would be alright," Cailinn said.
"Yes, I suppose it would be exciting,"Valia sighed,"those tales of other lands that you talk of are interesting, but I could never imagine leaving Neverwinter,"her eyes filled with sadness,"When will you leave?"
"I will wait until Nimue's ankle is healed," Cailinn replied softly.
"And will you return soon?"Valia asked as a tear ran down her face.
"Perhaps soon, perhaps later,"Cailinn said," Do not worry, Valia, I will not stay away forever. You are my friend and this is my home. I will come back someday."

The History of Cailinn Elanesse Part 2
In the early hours of the morning, when the sky is first kissed with the rose flush of dawn and the world is filled with soft splendor, a black cloud appeared on the horizon. Throughout the day, it slowly came closer and increased in size until finally, in late afternoon, it completely blotted out the sun's cheerful face and engulfed the heavens in darkness. Rain began to fall in torrents, pouring down faster and harder until soon you could not see but a few steps in front of you.
_______________
"There, Nalin, you're safe and warm in here,"Aithar said to the horse as he shut the stable door.
He picked up the lantern and walked out into the downpour. As he was making his way to the house, he could hear the pounding of a horse's hooves on the ground. Using the light to see, Aithar peered through the sheet of rain. He spotted a horse and its rider slowing to a stop only a few yards away. As he moved closer, he could see a hooded figure in a grey cloak dismounting.
"Who are you?,"Aithar sternly called out to the stranger.
The rider, having just noticed Aithar, walked over to him and smiled.
"I am Cailinn Elanesse of Neverwinter, Lothlorien."
"An Elf-maiden!,"Aithar gasped,"And from Lorien, too! Ah, I have heard many a wonderful tale of that land. It is said to be the fairest of all the dwellings of the Elves. Tell me, is it true that the leaves of the trees do not fall in winter, but remain until Spring when the boughs are all laden with blossoms?"
"It is,"the Elf laughed, her eyes sparkling with amusement,"Lothlorien is a very fair and lovely land."
"Then why would you want to leave it for the bleak plains of Anorien?,"Aithar asked.
"To ride wherever I feel like,"she replied.
"I see,"Aithar said, not quite sure of what she meant,"Well, is there anything I can do for you?"
"I was only wondering if you would be so kind as to let me stay with you until the morning. My horse needs a good rest, and I do not think that I can travel any further in this weather."
"But of course, Miss,"Aithar said bowing low,"Nierel and I would be honored to have a Lady of such a noble people as our guest."
"Thank you,"Cailinn smiled.
After Nimue was put in a stable with a bit of food and a bed of fresh hay, Aithar showed the Elf into the house. He led her down a narrow hallway and into a small room where he left her to freshen up before dinner.

Re: The History of Cailinn Elanesse
My next post is coming soon....it's going to have flashbacks, but that is only because I was already planning on having them way before Nath posted any. They are a vital part in my history and I have to put them in it. So, once again, I am not trying to copy Nath, we must just have had the same idea.

That's fine. I was going to add you, also, if it's alright with you.
