Re: The Frodos
Let's get this show on the road! :teehee:
*****************************************
The crowd began to grow restless and impatient. They had been sitting here in the theater for quite a while. What was taking so long? The Company, as the sponsors, were worried that something had gone wrong. Oh but wait, a hush came over the crowd. Luthien, on the arm of Stephen, emerged from the left side of the stage with a golden envelope in one hand and a Frodo statuette in the other. She and Stephen walked across the stage to the podium.
In his deep, strong voice, Stephen quickly allayed everyone’s worries with these words: “We, the Company, are sorry that you all have had to wait. We were experiencing some technical difficulties and we believe we have fixed them. Thank you all for being patient and hopefully, now the show will be better than ever! Plus, now we have a wedding to look forward to, thanks to Legolas and Elen.” The crowd erupted into claps and whistles at that point. Finally, once they had settled down, Stephen continued, “Thank you again and on with the show. I would now like to introduce to you this evening the Lovely Lady Luthien Tinuviel of Doriath!”
The crowd energetically clapped, happy to finally be on with the show. The Company always gave the best shows and many of the residents of Minas Tirith were here, eager to learn more about the Company who would be ruling in place of King Elessar this year. Stephen kissed Luthien softly on the cheek and walked to backstage where he would wait
to meet his darling after she had finished her presenting.

Re: The Frodos
“Good evening, everyone,” began Luthien in her deep, melodious voice. “It gives me great pleasure to present the music awards this evening. Music has been around ever since the dawn of time. We Elves learned the art from the Valar, who, it is said, sung the world into creation. Music specifically has the power to stir one’s emotions. And beautiful music can even enrich someone’s life. The music of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, composed by Howard Shore, was definitely beautiful and received the rewards from the Academy that it deserved. However, we the Company had a more difficult task. We had to decide which pieces of each soundtrack most powerfully spoke to our hearts.”
“The nominees for best track,” continued Luthien,”on the Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack are: “Concerning Hobbits”, “Bridge of Khazad-Dum”, “Flight to the Ford”, and “The Breaking of the Fellowship featuring ‘In Dreams”. And the winner is… “The Breaking of the Fellowship featuring In Dreams by Fran Walsh.”
The orchestra broke into a haunting theme of the “Breaking”, while the camera panned to get the reaction on the winner’s faces. Howard Shore looked surprised, yet very pleased. Fran Walsh was hugging PJ, excited to be recognized for her song-writing talent. And Edward Ross, the soloist of “In Dreams”, was slapping high fives with his choir friends who were all sitting together in the fifth row. They each then hurriedly made their way to the stage to receive their Frodo statuette. Luthien gave them each a hug and handed them their Frodo awards.
“First of all, thank you to the Company. Your great appreciation for beautiful music has always encouraged me and continues to encourage me. Thank you. I would also like to thank the London Philharmonic who recorded the entire score,” said Howard into the mic. “And thanks to Edward Ross” (here Howard patted Edward on the head) “for his fantastic voice and his fellows in the London Oratory School Schola. Finally, thanks to Fran Walsh who penned the words to “In Dreams.”
Then, Howard gave Fran a hug as Edward stepped to the mic. “Thank you, Company. I have always been a great admirer of yours and now, I have a Frodo award from my greatest heroes! Wicked!” said Edward with a laugh. “I would also like to thank Mr. Shore for giving me this great opportunity and Ms. Walsh to the words for the song.”
Finally, Fran also spoke her bit. “Thank you Company for this award. I love writing and I’m excited that the Company would think that the song I wrote deserves an award. Thank you Howard, for collaborating on the song and thanks to Edward who sang it so beautifully.”

Re: The Frodos
As the three were ushered off the stage, Luthien began again. “We are now privileged to listen to Annie Lennox sing “Into the West,” the song for the third Lord of the Rings film, The Return of the King.” The podium lowered down into the stage as the curtain behind Luthien rose to reveal Annie. Luthien silently walked off the stage and the spotlight was put on Annie. John Parricelli accompanied her on guitar and the orchestra quietly played their parts as Annie’s powerful voice broke into the stillness of the crowd.
Into the West
Lay Down
Your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
You have come to journey's end
Sleep now
Dream-of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across a distant shore
Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away.
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping
What can you see?
On the horizon.
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises.
The ships have come
To carry you home.
And all will turn to silver glass.
A light on the water
All souls pass.
Hope fades
Into the world of night.
Through shadows falling,
Out of memory and time.
Don't say
We have come now to the end.
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again.
And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping.
What can you see?
On the horizon.
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises.
The ships have come
To carry you home.
And all will turn to silver glass.
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the west.

"The winner of the Frodo for best Fellowship musical score was 'Breaking of the Fellowship'. Truly remarkable. I hope that more Frodos will be given out in a timely manner.""
YAY! THIS IS WORKING! IT'S FINALLY WORKING!!!!!

Re: The Frodos
As the last chord glided out to listeners’ ears, Luthien walked out on stage again. “Thank you, Annie. That was beautiful!” praised Luthien, thanking Annie with a hug, and shaking the hand of the guitarist. Then Luthien walked to the podium, as the curtain behind her fell. “I would now like to introduce to you, Miranda Otto, who will be presenting the award for the Two Towers soundtrack. Miranda…” said Luthien as Miranda Otto walked out to the podium from backstage, wearing a stunning red gown.
“Thank you, Luthien,” said Miranda, grinning, “In the Two Towers, we are introduced to the kingdom of Rohan. Howard Shore has captured the essence of Rohan in his music for the soundtrack. The nominees for Best Track on the Two Towers soundtrack are…“ spoke Miranda. (Nath got rid of the polls, so I don't know the nominees. )
"And the winner is…,” said Miranda, taking her time in opening the envelope, “Forth Eorlingas”!’
The orchestra broke into the rousing theme of “Forth Eorlingas” as Howard Shore came up on stage to receive his award. The crowd was clapping and commenting among themselves that “Forth Eorlingas” was definitely the best track.
Miranda handed the Frodo to Howard with a hug and “congratulations.” Howard approached the podium, “Thank you again, Company. I really had great musicians working with me on this entire project. They were phenomenal. And a big thank you to the violinists who so poignantly played the Rohan theme. Thank you all very much!” And Howard left the stage to clapping.

Re: The Frodos
“Now, we pause again to enjoy the song from The Two Towers, “Gollum’s Song”, performed by Emiliana Torrini,” said Miranda as she and Luthien walked off the stage and the curtain behind her rose to reveal Emiliana.
Gollum’s Song
Where once was light
Now darkness falls
Where once was love
Love is no more
Don't say goodbye
Don't say I didn't try
These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the lies you told us
The hurt, the blame!
And we will weep to be so alone
We are lost
We can never go home
So in the end
I'll be what I will be
No loyal friend
Was ever there for me
Now we say goodbye
We say you didn't try
These tears you cry
Have come too late
Take back the lies
The hurt, the blame!
And you will weep
When you face the end alone
You are lost
You can never go home
You are lost
You can never go home

Re: The Frodos
As the last note rose over the audience, Luthien emerged from backstage. “Thank you, Emiliana. That was gorgeous, such a haunting song,” said Luthien as she hugged Emiliana and proceeded to the podium.
“Finally, we award the best track for the Return of the King soundtrack. Here to present this award is David Wenham,” said Luthien as David walked out to the podium from backstage.
“Thank you Luthien,” replied David. “In The Return of the King, everything comes to completion. However, the entire story is supercharged with emotion and feeling. Howard Shore captures this very well in his composition. The nominees for Best Track on the Return of the King soundtrack are… (something that Nath deleted ). And the winner is…” said David, opening the envelope with deliberate care, “ ‘The Steward of Gondor featuring Billy Boyd.”
The orchestra began playing “The Steward of Gondor” as Howard Shore rose from his seat yet again. The crowd clapped enthusiastically because everyone loved Billy and was happy to see him win an award. Billy, too, was immensely excited and was having trouble getting out into the aisle from his seat because his friends, Orli, Lij, Sean, and Dom, were patting him on the back and tugging on him.
Howard made his way to the stage and received his statue from David. Eventually, Billy too made his way to the stage where he received his statue.
“Thank you all so much,” began Howard. “It was such fun working with Billy. He is a very talented actor, as well as singer. Thank you again for this award.”
“I too would like to thank, mah friends, the Company. It was great fun to record a song fer the soundtrack,” said Billy. “Thank you, Howard for the opportunity, and Peter and Fran for writing it into the movie. I never expected to get an award fer it, tho! And then, I need to also thank Rea, mah Diamond. She inspired me in all my werk and I ne’er coulda done it without her. I love you, Rea!” Then the two men were escorted off the stage by David. However, there were quite a few sighs heard from the audience at Billy’s last words. (It sure is hard to write an accent. )

Re: The Frodos
“Now, among the three soundtracks, we had to choose which one was the absolute best. As you might imagine, it was quite difficult because each one is so exquisite! And the nominees for Best Soundtrack are…” said Luthien as scenes from each three movies flashed across the screen, “The Fellowship of the Ring,’ ‘The Two Towers’, and ‘The Return of the King’ “. The winner for Best Soundtrack is…” teased Luthien, opening the envelope slowly,” ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ Howard Shore” she announced.
Howard came up to accept this final award to applause from the audience. Luthien presented the Frodo to him with a kiss on the cheek and stepped away from the microphone as Howard approached it.
“Thank you all very much. The Fellowship soundtrack is actually the one I most enjoyed working on because each section explored a different culture in Middle Earth. Plus it told a story more completely than either of the other two soundtracks. And the musicians who worked on it were fabulous. The London Oratory Schola, the London Voices, Elizabeth Fraser, Edward Ross, and Fran and Peter were constant companions during the recording process. Again, a big thanks to the Company for recognizing many hours of hard work and dedication and also for appreciating and enjoying my music. Nothing edifies a musician more than the compliments of fans. Thank you all very much and have a good night!” Howard walked off the stage to the rousing cheers of an audience who believed that he truly deserved all the praise he was receiving.
