posticon The Appendices

What is your favorite area of the appendices?

Do you ever get bored of reading all that stuff?

Do you wish there were many more books detailing even further everything the appendices contain?

1) My favorite part is Aragorn and Arwens love story. But I also love the family trees. Actually, the time line probably is my favorite!

2) Do I ever get bored?! NO!

3) Yes, I really wish there were more books on Middle Earth after the War of the Ring. (But the Company stories will make up for that when we make our book. emoticon)

1/ I think I like The Tale of Years best, because I like to see things put down in order. emoticon

2/ Not bored, but I always find them quite difficult to get through after I've finished The Return of the King. I'm usually wanting to get on to something else and stop concentrating after appendix B. I love dipping into them though for dates and little bits of history and the pronunciation of names and things.

3/ I don't know. There are still The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. Maybe it's better to have some things left to imagine for yourself.

1. Well, I've only skimmed through and read bits of the appendices. I've also read teeny bits of the really huge LotR history book thingummy, whatever it was.... (can't remember the name!)

2. Um, yes, very. It's very plodding work. I like to read it all, but with all the unfamiliar names and places -- whoa, it just lost me.

3. I might some day, but as I've not even gotten through all of them after RotK, at this point I'm not concerned about it.

The Appendices

1.) I love the timelines of the Ages...they are awesome and very helpful in fan fic/history writting! I love the hobbit and dwarf family trees! emoticonemoticon And what happened to the Fellowship...what was left of the Fellowship, after War of the Rings, but I think that is in the timelines....I always cry or get teary eyed when I read about Merry..aka Master Holdwine...and Pippin...aka The Thain...Leaving the Shire to see Eomer a last time and than living their last with Aragorn. And than when Aragorn dies, he and the hobbits resting next to each other..sniff sniff..and than you read further about Sam and finally Legolas and...maybe..Gimli heading west...it is all very sad. "And when that ship passed an end was come in Middle Earth of the Fellowship of the Ring." **bawls into Mer's shoulder**

2.) I actually haven't read all of them...

3.) I do...maybe not books but one book with a chapter on each detailing the rest of each fellowship member's life. I would be content...there's not enough in the Appendices.

I glanced over them tonight while reading RotK, and the family trees are cool. I didn't see the part that you all are talking about, though. I can't wait to read them!

A part that did make me sad (I always glance through the whole book. It's a bad habit of mine, I know.emoticon ) was near the end when the Third Age comes to and end. I didn't read much, because I don't want to ruin the book (like I've done many times before lol). So far, RotK is so good!
