Re: The Book Topic
I am reading a book a found up in the attic called Around the World in 1,000 Pictures.
It has pictures of almost every country in the world, tells about the food, culture and customs of each one! The silly thing about it is, it was made in the 1940's so it gives me a glimpse of what the world looked like 60 some years ago. I love it anyhow, though.
I'd rate it 9/10. If it were newer it would be better.
And, best of all, at the beginning it says "To Laura, with love"....that means it is my book.

Re: The Book Topic
Since I've been packing I've found a lot of my childhood books, so, tales by Beatrix Potter, Pickles, and Berenstain Bears. That's some heavy reading for you.
I don't have time to read otherwise right now.

Re: The Book Topic
Yes read The Hobbit! It's so cute
I still have my Beatrix Potter books too! Jemima Puddleduck and Peter Rabbit. I love the pictures as much as the stories. :silly:
This is what I'm reading at the mo.
Author: L.M. Montgomery
Title: Rilla of Ingleside
Plot summary: I'm sure you all know but anyway... It's the last of the Anne series and concentrates on her youngest daughter Rilla who has to do her growing up during WW1. At first she is a vain little doll, but as one by one her brothers go off to fight, she finds her strengths and courage in keeping up the home side spirit.
Comments: I'm really enjoying it! I've been reading Anne since I was little but was never interested in the last two as they were more about Anne's kids than her. It's not quite as great as the earlier books but still I love the Ingleside setting and Glen St. Mary and Montgomery is always a pleasure to read. To see the war from a home point of view is interesting and Rilla is a nice enough heroine, although lacks a bit of sparkle I think. All in all I'd say a nice book for an easy read.
