Captain Zorikh Costume Contest at the Big Apple Convention Sunday, June 25!
This event is fast becoming one of the most exciting and anticipated events of the Big Apple Convention, New York’s longest-running comic book/sci-fi-fantasy/pop-culture expo! Captain Zorikh hosts the show with co-host Jolie Voltaire as a galaxy of fantastic creatures and characters struts their stuff. Come as any character from comics, sci-fi, fantasy, manga/anime, horror or make up your own! Come as a hero or a villain!
Come on your own or form a team and enter as a group! Theatricality is encouraged as prizes are awarded on the basis of costuming excellence and presentation/performance!
Don't have a costume or character? Don't feel left out! In Captain Zorikh's costume contest, the audience helps decide the winner with the patented "applause-o-meter" judging system!
At the June Summer Sizzler, one lucky and talented winner will receive a Darth Maul double-ended light saber, courtesy NY Jedi and Galactic Arms (http://www.galacticarms.com/)! Other special prizes include CD’s from the Midnight Syndicate (http://www.midnightsyndicate.com), videos from Gold Castle films (http://www.goldcastlefilms.com), gift certificates to thematically appropriate stores, and more!
There is, of course, plenty more to see and do at the Big Apple Convention. Featured Guests include Steven Segal, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Robert Vaughn, Matthew Wood (sound designer and voice of General Grievous for “Star Wars: Episode !!!”), Captain Lou Albano, Steve Dash (Original Jason from Friday 13th), Tony Moran (Michael Myers from Hallowween), comic book artists and writers Jerry Ordway (Superman, Shazam), Joseph Michael Linser (Cry For Dawn), Frank Brunner (Creepy, Howard the Duck), Irwin Hasen (Dondi, Green Lantern) and more! New York Jedi (http://www.nyjedi.com/) will be performing and teaching light saber techniques. The dealer’s room will hold over 100 tables of the finest comic books, toys, art, videos, collectibles, and more!
In addition, Kenly Dillard will be on site providing free caricatures to all attendees all weekend long. Get your costume character caricatured!
