Vernon Forrest vs. Ike Quartey
Vernon Forrest vs. Ike Quartey
Light middleweight Boxing Fight
Saturday August 5, 2006
Madison Square Garden, NY, NY. USA.
Vernon Forrest battles Ike Quartey on Aug. 5 at Madison Square Garden in a match-up between former welterweight champions trying to regain their glory at 154 pounds. Forrest has shown an excellent jab that befuddles shorter opponents, and he has a 4.5” height and 2” reach advantage over Quartey. People betting against Forrest, however, think his chin is questionable, as he knocked out by Ricardo Mayorga in three rounds and was stunned a few times in his last fight against Elco Garcia. Quartey's last fight was in December, a 10-round TKO of Carlos Bojorquez. Sportsbook odds figure to be a near pick’em.

Re: Vernon Forrest vs. Ike Quartey
Not a bad historical overview. I'm going with Quartey in this one. He was a better fighter in there primes, and he wants it more now.

Re: Vernon Forrest vs. Ike Quartey
If Ike can stay focused he'll win. This matchup got me thinking about how cool it would have been if a prime Mayorga and a prime Quartey squared off.
