Crappy Month
This has been the ugliest month for boxing all year. Other than the Marquez fights, there has been nothing interesting overall.
Thank God its over!

Re: Crappy Month
amen to that! Good to see you ocdodger.
August started with Quartey-Forrest and went downhill fast!
The Contender was the best thing going this month.. and what does that say?

Re: Crappy Month
Thanx for the reception PAPA DUDE. I tried getting into that show, but just can't find myself getting hooked. I guess its the editing they do of the actual fights.
Fights im looking forward this coming month:
1. The whole Golden Boy card on Sept. 16!
(It's my wifes babyshower on that day and im still watching the fights in the other room, hahaha)
2. Demarcus Corley vs Junior Witter Sept.15
(an american fighting in england for the WBC lightweight title, hope Demarcus does good)
3. Jorge "Travieso" Arce vs Masibulele Makepula Sept 23
(Jorge finally moving up to 118 and going for some hardware and challenge whomever is left at 118. Just looks like he needs to move all the way up to 122 for the bigger names)
4. Carlos "Famoso" Hernandez vs Kevin Kelly Sept. 28 (its a 10rounder, but im sure whom ever wins gets probably one last shot at a world title. This fight should be a action packed given that both are at a crossroads in there carreers)
so there you go for the month of September on my agenda. the rest of the year should be exciting as well with Margarito, Cotto, Erik, Paquio, Wright, Mayweather, Baldomir and others fighting.
P.S.
Did you hear that Juan Manuel Marquez signed with Golden Boy Promotions? Dude, i so called that one a while back ago when he was sitting next to Oscar at the Barrera vs Juarez fight back in May. Just for the record!

Re: Crappy Month
I did hear about Marquez. That is good news for him. I thought the same thing when I saw him sitting next to Oscar a few major fights back.
September can't be much worse than August. I'm looking forward to the fights you mentioned as well as Toney - Peter tomorrow. I think James with give his opponent a boxing lesson.
Last season I couldn't get into the Contender for the same reason you gave. This year I gave it another chance and I actually like it.

Re: Crappy Month
Just like the Contender, the Heavyweithg division is so past my attention span. There is no heavyweight fighter that you can truly feel has the shoulders to carry that division ala Tyson or Holyfield. To the point that older fighters are trying to resucect their carreers cause they truly feel they can beat anyone even at their current age. sad state of affairs indeed!

Re: Crappy Month
The Heavyweights are sad. And I don't spend too much time thinking about them but I've always liked Toney.
