--- Go see LXG....I mean the League.....NO! The LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN on July 20th, 2003. (Pretty sure thats the day, but correct me if I'm wrong).
THere is a publishers in the UK called House of Stratus which publish alot of Edgar Wallace's books the "Reeder" books included,if you try Amazon UK they should have them in stock.
Thxs for the tip, spsmith. I know House of Stratus from the handsome reprints of older Aldiss novels I've been collecting lately. I didn't know they were also handling the Wallace novels as well.
Re: What's your favorite League character author Really? My own edition of The Complete John Silence is from Dover (part of their excellent Dover Horror Classics series), and it isn't that old. Is it possible for two different publishing houses to have the rights to the same book? Or maybe Stratus is UK while Dover handles the States.
Re: What's your favorite League character author Yes that's probably it.House of Stratus are a U.K company in fact the Town they are based in is only about Half an Hour from where I live by car.
Re: What's your favorite League character author Nope,Dr Thorndyke,by R Austin Freeman.A doctor who uses his scientific skills to solves crimes.Sorry for the confusion.
Re: What's your favorite League character author Gosh, I'm amazed that no one has chosen my favorite, Jules Verne with HG Wells a close second. Although you can't really pick just one, Verne really stands out for his amazing writing and an imagination that really sparked the field of speculative fiction.
The principal LOEG authors would include:
Jules Verne
H.G. Wells
Conan Doyle
E.A. Poe
Bram Stoker
RL Stevenson
HR Haggard
Sax Rohmer
Re: What's your favorite League character author Like a lot of you folks, I prefer H. Rider Haggard. Ever since I read She, that I've been entranced by his writing. He's ten times better than Verne!
Who's Edgar Wallace? Does Gromit come into this picture?
