Re: LoEG: The Animated Movie?
Ok then. As far as their form of animation, they have Disney beat. Great animation. The plots need some work, true...
--- Go see LXG....I mean the League.....NO! The LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN on July 20th, 2003. (Pretty sure thats the day, but correct me if I'm wrong).

Oooh! but they have made made such fine films!!
Take Isao Takahata:
"Tomb of the fireflyes", "Only yesterday"
Or Hayao Miyazaki:
"Porco Rosso", "Spirited away", "Princess Mononoke" (And let's not forget... ehem "Kiki's delivery service" and "My neighbour Totoro").
And "Akira", Metropolis", "Royal Space Force"...
Well, of course, they also make some quite forgettable films, but so happens with films from other countries (american pie, anyone?)

Re: LoEG: The Animated Movie?
Does this discussion indicate that no one is interested in the Hanna-Barbera version of LOEG, ALAN AND THE EXTRAORDINARIES!
The cartoons feature the gang traveling around the world in a Cavorite-Powered Salon Car with a balloon canopy and a cute animal character, 'StickyBun' ,( a flayed rabbit ), supplied by that wacky Docko Morea for humorous segments.
They battle evil adversaries like Dr. Blistle Blush and his Limehouse Lemons, Prof. Morey Arty and the Ministry of Meanness and the evil Martian BEM-ET-U who wants to EAT-U-2!
Voice of Griffin: Paul Lynde
Voice of Hyde: Robert Conrad
Voice of Jekyl: Hans Conreid
Voice of all others: Mel Blanc
I'm sure some of us can recall some of the shows if we think about it.
My favorite episode? "The Graffitum of Dorian Gray!"

Re: LoEG: The Animated Movie?
Yeah Sivana, why not suggest the movie be made by the same people who made Rocky and Bullwinkle, George of the Jungle, or Mr. Magoo?

Oh! let's talk about it. ..I just loved Michael Maltese's writing for that series
Wilhemina Batstop being voiced by the great Mr. Blanc seemed an odd choice at the beginning, but now I can't think of her whithout recalling her inmortal lines "Always keeping me in the dark, you despickable yoiks!!
I remember fondly the dastardly, double-faced Halcyon Phat-bomb, pretending to help Alan and his Extraordinaries, while actually placing traps everywhere in their path.

I see, Allan of the jungle, Edward MacBonkCrashBang, a
n invisible Magoo (He can't be seen... But he can't see!!)...

Re: LoEG: The Animated Movie?
Another enjoyable episode: 'Plant Parenthood'
featuring the dastardly plans of Dava Triffid, "Tree who must be obeyed", to replace the world supply of tinned beans with nascent plant creature pods, repopulating the earth in a staggering global afterdinner bout of indigestion.
Who can forget Alan's closing line as he runs for the loo, 'I'm next! I'm next!'

Re: LoEG: The Animated Movie?
Funny, I remember japan had its own league show for awhile but it didnt last too long. Allan was able to shoot fireballs from his hands. The invisable man was a ninja... and you could see him. Hyde was a giant robot and jekkle was the driver. Nemo was a short, somewhat white guy with thick glasses, and Mina had boobs bigger than her head and in every show it some how involved her being eather striped nude, a shower scene, or a odd tentical rape scene. it only lasted 9,942 espsiodes... a rather short run.

Moan, moan, moan...

I know. Somehow they manage to make violence so...horrible. Do you know what I mean? I mean, it really looks violent! It turns my stomach. (I think this needs to be Disneys first R rated animated movie. Aheheheheheh)
It isn't the violence (though many times they can't do it right). It's the poses, the week plot, the monotonous drawing style...I could go on...
..the constant 'let's not bother with lip-sync', the mouths opening wider than the face.. the repetitive storylines, the pointless plots... um.. this is more anti-Pokemon and Digimon and all those pointless waste of space "cartoons", rather than Japanimation generally.. but it's replaced 'Pinky and the Brain' and 'Walter Melon' (not to mention 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' 'Biker Mice From Mars', 'Buky O'Hare' and 'Dangermouse' on my TV... (well, clearly not literally.. I wouldn't watch that rubbish, but.. the decent things aren't on any more.. )
So... by that logic, even a slightly dodgy LoEG: The Animated Series is preferable - and faintly educational, too!
