I have read where there are certain county's in the U.S were isolated communities do speak a very archaic form of English. The term "Fall" for Autumn was originally English but fell out of use over here, but is still used in America.

In certain areas of the Appalachians, very isolated (we're talking Deliverance...), where a lot of Scottish and Irish families settled, they still have accents too thick for most Americans to understand. emoticon

I live in Tennessee and am an officer in a small town county jail and one of my favorite things to say to some of our...er.. guests is " You need to come down from that mountain and stop doing your sister".
