Now that's being discriminatory towards rednecks (hmph!). I hope the NAARA (North American Association for the Rednecks of America) file a complaint of some sort.

Oh, they will... but there are more important things to worry about first: making appearances on Texas Justice and Jerry Springer (about the paternity tests, of course)... emoticon

...has the news about Jerry Springer: The Opera reached America, or is that a solely English thing, just to change the topic again..?!

I've heard about it, but I think it was in a British magazine, so that may not really tell you much... emoticon (Guess this is revenge for Americans having a strange attraction to anti-British pseudo-historical films? High American culture put to arias? emoticon )

And changing the subject yet again but ever so slightly.I read today that Mel Gibson(Boo,Hiss)wants to hire the British Aircraft carrier HMS Invincible ( and I use the term aircraft carrier loosely,as Americans would use the term Helicopter carrier),for a new movie he has planned updating the exploits of Nelson to the present day.

Considering Gibson's anti English bias what are the chances the Invincible will be doubling up as a ship belonging to any Navy except the Royal Navy.

Quite! All the language, murders and fighting.. but to music.. apparantly.

They're also planning 'Newsnight': The Opera (based on a Current Affairs TV Programme), Channel 4 is pretending to be highbrow (but really just putting more sex on TV) with Pornography - the Opera (people singing - badly - lyrics by Simon Armitage.. ..about various sex things, and then interspersed people chatting about their personal experience of becoming a porstitute or whatever..)

Great. If this doesn't get people to want to see REAL Operas, nothing will! emoticon

...oh, and then there was the random Dracula: The Ballet (can't remember the real title, it was a Canadian company..) on the night. Surreal Nonsense! emoticon

Because these aren't basically exactly like every other opera, updated, names and lyrics in English instead of Italian? Sex, violence, intrigue... It's all in Tosca, why not Jerry Springer? emoticon
