Tiddly-Ohm-Pom-Po'ms...
And Now For Something Completely Different...
...Poetry. almost certainly BAD Poetry...
Some of the (more creative..?) people at (Mark)MillarWorld have been Haiku and Limerick-ing about various SuperHeroics, so... why not make a vague attempt to emulate Mr Moore's Poetic Masterpiece in V2 with some lines about the League..?!
...but first, since it's now officially the 14th, why not...?!
Happy Valentine's Day
quote: A Limerick by PNRG:
Roses are Red - this is true,
And I've heard that violets are blue...
But that's more than enough,
About Flowers and stuff:
Emily... I Love You
And now before advancing towards League-inspired works... some poems:
Semi-Carollian Doggerel...
My love for you is redder than the whitest Turtle-Dove.
..which scarse makes sense, but then (you know) I often do, my love...
Semi Literary Edwardian Leering...
The Owl and the Nightingale went abroad, at different times of year.
In sun and in snow, 'til they both had to go,
Supping on Jam, but not beer...
It's a Wrapper... (by M & M...)
Yeah, I seen a certain sweetie I ain't never seen before,
In a packet,
Make a racket,
When you drop them on the floor.
Red and yellow like the Sino-Russian, pointless little war.
They have these little letters on them, know you what they're for..?
They're for the absenteeist parent, who've just come in from the store.
Think they're helping out the teachers, but then what are teachers for?!
'Cos the main ol' problem with them is the kind of words you score:
With 'M' and 'm' you never even get as far as 'Moore'...
Since you're stuck on 'M' and 'Mm...' and ''m' and what is even more...
Since the longest word is Mmmmmmmm and extended words of yore...
Don't waste your time. Buy Smarties. They have different letters on the tops....

Haiku, Accrostic, Limerick....
...Japan, Scotland and Ireland. ..what do I win..?
Free Verse without a proper rhyming pattern isn't really 'Peotry'. Unfortunately, proper rhyming is really, really difficult, so for the most part....
Allan.
African Hunter.
Hero on the written page.
Roll on Volume Three.
Mina.
Maybe it was the
Invisible man who
Never truly understood her.
And, then again, maybe it was Mr Norrington..
Edward.
There once was a dashing young doctor,
Who potions and suchlike concocted.
From inside to release,
His innermost beast
To savage the Martians who'd mocked 'im.
Hawley.
Unseen by many.
Makes "treaties" with aliens.
Couldn't win. Didn't.
Nemo.
'No-one' he calls himself,
Everyone, he appears to know.
More compassionate than,
One might necessarily expect.
Campion.
There once was a chap with a surname,
Full loaded with plenty of film fame,
So cigarettes *in*,
But alas! He's not thin,
Just weak - hence why this is so lame...
...yes, well...
Do better, then!
The once was a devilish doctor...
There once was a woman, who's book...
There once was a childhood bear...
The father of modern gene-splicing...

Re: Tiddly-Ohm-Pom-Po'ms...
Well, I'm more into writing song parodies than poetry. I did have an idea for a League song, a parody inspired by the mix of Gilbert, Sullivan, and Lovecraft in the V2 I3 Almanac, that began
"I am the very model of a tenacled monstrosity..."
But I think "Major-General" parodies have been a bit overdone, so...
I'll think about it.

Re: Tiddly-Ohm-Pom-Po'ms...
Names are a bother.
A P-N-R-G myst'ry:
Won't say I told you.
This Valentine's day there is someone
Who's written a poem about "no-one."
But others written too,
To say I love you:
And I say the same just to that one.
(Won't say I can write poetry, either...)
Happy Valentine's Day...

The Extr'ordinary League is a book,
With new sights wherever you look.
And the best of them all?
Meeting like-minded y'all,
Now that really was quite a fluke..
'Tis Written..
As Alan and Kevin begin,
To write of the HP within
The life of the Leagues,
Oh! How that segues
To asking Jess for a hint...
Waiting for Good Ol' comics..
Remember, Remember
That come this November
(December, perhaps or next year)
The League will be three
Alan, Mina and thee
So take heart and be of good cheer...
Defictionalising
There once was a childhood bear,
Who's tales were menial affairs,
But the animal part
Maketh him what he art
In the League. Reader beware!
Mother Goose in the Germas 'tis said,
Is Mörder Guss - and in this stead,
Moreau's incarnation
Would need some sedation
To read the small kiddies to bed...
Puss in Boots' dastardly schemes,
Aren't gen'rally deemed to be mean,
But his darker persona
Became the sole donor
And he is the black thing we see..
Mr Toad is an odious creep,
(Terry Jones aside, beeping his beep)
And the thing in the car
Is more sinister far
Than reality's miniature leap ..(er)
See?! Not being able to write poetically isn't a hindrance, merely a creative opportunity to make an idiot of oneself...

Re: Tiddly-Ohm-Pom-Po'ms...
I think it would be a better idea to ressurect Tennyson from the dead.
