The Prisoner DVDs

After months of dithering on the edge, I finally decided to buy the Complete Prisoner Megaset of DVDs. For years I was satisfied with my little VHS copies I'd taped myself YEARS ago when A&E was still broadcasting the show.
Wow.
They even rearranged the episodes in the "fan-approved" version, which I'd concocted myself from my own guesswork regarding Patrick McGoohan's plan. GREAT, great series.
(I probably WON'T be buying the Secret Agent Megaset or the Danger Man DVDs, though technically they COULD be seen as prequels, but I'm ecstatic about this purchase)
Anyone else here a Prisoner fan?

Cheers, SP
Yeah, I know Danger Man and Secret Agent are the same. I meant they're selling them at Amazon in different sets. Danger Man has the first season (the half-hour shows), while Secret Agent has the hour-long episodes. (And the more I look at them the more I bloody WANT THEM!)

Y'know, now I'm starting to consider getting the Saint Megaset and the Complete Captain Scarlet.
This is ridiculous. I'm going to stop surfing the internet for a couple of weeks until I detox myself, because CLEARLY I've gone over the edge.

..could you explain the prequellic nature of these for me, please..? And when you say above that they've been variously released on different continents (DVD, the UNIVERSAL format.. emoticon) ...are any of them complete, or...? emoticon

emoticon You have to be verrrrry careful when you look up things on websites.. emoticon ..yes..

Saying that, Captain Scarlet does fall into that retro-terrible/brilliant-dodgy-odd-quirky-funny-weird category...
The Saint's another one I've not seen.. emoticon

I was thinking about getting the Avengers DVD sets. Until I realised there were several. More than several in fact, and even then it's not totally out yet, apparantly.... so I'll wisely pass for the time being and concentrate on... 'saving'. emoticon

Danger Man (broadcast in the U.S as Secret Agent) stars Patrick McGoohan as John Drake a, um, secret agent, first for the UN, then for some mysterious branch of British Intelligence (M-9).
As you know, the Prisoner is about SOME scret agent who wants to quit his job, and THEN is kidnapped by his own superiors and taken to the Village. Whether this is because he KNOWS something or whatver is, of course, never actually explained. This character is NEVER referred to by name, only as Number 6 ( I am not a number! )
NOWHERE at all does it say that this nameless character is actually John Drake, but fans of the show have often specualted about this and it IS generally agreed on that he is.
BTW, the entire Danger Man/Secret Agent series is out on DVD. Every episode has been collected. I've seen them on Amazon (though I HAVEN'T checked in Amazon UK) I'd be very surprised if they didn't have them over there.

Re: The Prisoner DVDs

Oh, and BTW, the ENTIRE run of The Avengers is also out, isn't it?
I've seen boxed sets for the two "Cathy Gale" seasons, for EVERY Emma Peel season, and ALL the episodes of Tara King (though these ones are NOT boxed)
Again, this is Amazon. I haven't checked Amazon UK, but again, I'd be extremely surprised if they didn't have them over there as well.
(Why don't you get a multi-region player? )
