Sapphire & Steel

...is it worth looking (out) for at all, in anyone's opinion..?

Is it Prisoner, Avengers-esque (enough)..? More importantly, though - is it any good..?! emoticon

[...SP..? ...Kobe..? emoticon]

Re: Sapphire & Steel

Well, I'm not sure if my answer will help you much since I only saw Sapphire and Steel maybe 20 years ago when it was being first broadcast. I've never ONCE even seen the VHS tapes, let alone been able to buy them.
As such, remember these are the points of view of some 12-year old kid:
I freaking LOVED this series.
You can find a bunch of Sapphire and Steel websites online and some have episode guides readily available, but the one I remember the best was the one with the World War One soldier haunting the railway station. (That one, and probably the last story in the series, which to this day I'm not certain I understood at all)
Now, remember, this series took the notion of LOW-budget and made a virtue of it. Intentionally or not, I remember only the barest of sets and the cheesiest FX /the music was not bad, though)
I wonder about your post. Have they released Sapphire and Steel DVDs over there (at long last) ?

Sapphire and Steel is most definitely worth looking up.A very good series thats very spooky in parts and has one of the most surprising conclusions to any Sci Fi/horror series going.

Keep looking out in the various offers the stores have and you should see it fairly cheap. On the Avengers front I got three of the box sets for a bargain last year in the January Sales,as a taster you cannot really go wrong with any of the episodes.

The Danger Man series one box set has just come out unfortunately is £45/49 quid at the moment but I'm fairly confident by the end of the year it should be cheaper under some offer or other.

Apparantly so, yes. I was perusing through some eBay things, rather wishing I had pots of money casually lying around... and there were several people selling the whole lot of DVDs..

In America,
ludicrously cheaply and
in Australia.

..saying that, I can't really afford anything much at the moment, so it was a semi-speculative query really.. emoticon

I'm always on the lookout, but I always seem to miss things.. I missed the Prisoner deal, for example.. but never mind. All things come to those who wait. Allegedly.

Hmmm.... offers, eh..? I think I might start up a Christmas list to circulate to all my relatives..! Good thinking. emoticon

Re: Sapphire & Steel

Huh.
A deeper search through Amazon UK shows they HAVE been released (though they don't look like the ones on the ebay links you gave), and in fact, have been out since 2002!
I don't understand how I could've missed them when they were first released. Oh well...
(I'm thinking on bidding on the "ludicrously cheap" sets on ebay instead, as the covers on that boxed set looks better)
Thanks, mate!

emoticon No problem..! If I'd been able to get everything working properly, I'd have wished you 'good luck' in writing.. but the sentiment was there. emoticon
