LOEG-ish books, tv, and movies.
I just got done watching a anime called ROD: Read or Die. And its kinda a LOEG in modern day. The enemy are a group of cloned historical people that include Matri Hari. and the group thats after them works for a seceret british group called the libray. And they are commanded by an old man named "Mr.Gentlemen" Its a good movie.
http://www.geocities.com/stalkeryik/index.htm this is a good LOEG like fan fiction that is well written.
if i find more i will put it on here. if you guys find any be sure to post it here.

It's a good site Monty, but tell me, have I been eating too much LSD with my ****aine cakes, or do Jack Stiles and Briscoe County Jr. look identical?

League/pulp related things
In "McSweeny's Mammoth Treasury of Thrilling Tales", there's a Michael Moor**** story entitled "The Case of the Nazi Canary" that mentions Sexton Blake and one of his nemises. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/140003339X/103-2565403-3008655?v=glance
And this is a gallery of some pulp characters drawn in Bruce Timm's style. http://pub134.ezboard.com/fdcuaforumfantasticforum.showMessage?topicID=1959.topic
And then there's Jasper Fforde's books, which mention several characters from Victorian fiction. www.thursdaynext.com

New Kevin Anderson book.
I see that Kevin Anderson has a new book coming out in November/December.I've forgot the title, but it is about H.G.Wells traveling to Mars prior to the WOTWs with the Carvorite space ship and it's inventor. While on Earth Dr Moreau dissects a captured "martian".

Were did you here about that? Is the source reliable? And is Kevin Anderson a good writer?

I can kind-of verify... I've heard of it too; I think I read about it in one science fiction magazine or another mid-summer...
As for his writing ability: mediocre. He wrote the LXG novelisation, of course, lots of Star Wars and X-Files books, and a couple of originals -- the occasional moments of brilliance, but nothing special for the most part.

Well, here's a list of things that he's written, if that gives any idea of 'good' writing, for you:
KJA Bibliography
Apparantly, he also edited 'War of the Worlds: Global Dispatches', but the title that you seem to be searching for is...
Mr Wells & the Martians
