LOEG-ish books, tv, movies AND radio

I'd just like to remind everyone to listen to 'The Harpoon'- linked on its own unloved thread.

Just seen Master and Commander yesterday.A good recreation of life on board a 19th century ship, you can almost smell the brine. It comes as no surprise that Britannia Ruled the waves with such captains as Jack Aubrey and Hornblower.

well I thoroughly enjoyed it.I haven't seen Timeline yet.Interesting to note though that all the film critics have slagged it off.But then again what do they know.

No doubt... faintly nice to see that the majority turned on M:R2, but... I wonder how many Film critics:

a) Read the source material (if it's an adaptation)
b) Criticise the film rather than the source.

It's easy to attack something as being a poor adaptation, but that doesn't make it a bad film (necessarily), likewise it can be a good adaptation of a bad book, in which case it's the story not the film.. and so on. emoticon

I enjoyed the tape (audio cassette), and enjoyed the film. Wasn't completely faithful, but it worked pretty well, I thought. Good acting, strong story, good battling.. emoticon

And who needs believable, multi-dimensional characters when you've got battles?

Exactly why entertainment should make more attempt -- escapism, right?
