I recommend The Gambler Returns: Luck of the Draw. It's a Made for TV movie starring Kenny Rogers. In it, he encounters characters from old western TV shows.Here's a list:
Gene "Bat Masterson" Barry, Hugh "Wyatt Earp" O'Brien, Brian "The Westerner" Keith, Chuck "The Rifleman" Connors, Jack "Maverick" Kelly, Clint "Cheyenne" Walker, David "Kung Fu" Carradine, and "Virginian" co-stars James Drury and Doug McClure.
I think this was my first exposure to a shared universe and it stuck with me.

I hate to shamelessly advertize myself, but anyway...
I don't know if there are any Civilization players here, but I've been working on a mod for CivIV for a while that's based on the principles of League.
It's called Fictionalization IV (forgive the name)
