Re: More Films
I believe Basil Rathbone said it in one of the films. But Holmes never said it in any of the books.

...as a followup, apparantly there are release dates now for both Constantine and Catwoman. HooRah.
quote: from Comics Continuum:
As part of its 2004 preview, Warner Bros. has announced release dates of July 30 and Sept. 17 for the Catwoman and Constantine movies.
The write-ups sound... well. Here they are:
quote: from Comics Continuum:
Here's how the studio describes Catwoman:
"Catwoman is the story of shy, sensitive artist Patience Philips (Halle Berry), a woman who can't seem to stop apologizing for her own existence. She works as a graphic designer for Hedare Beauty, a mammoth cosmetics company on the verge of releasing a revolutionary anti-aging product.
"When Patience inadvertently happens upon a dark secret her employer is hiding, she finds herself in the middle of a corporate conspiracy. What happens next changes Patience forever. In a mystical twist of fate, she is transformed into a woman with the strength, speed, agility and ultra-keen senses of a cat. With her newfound prowess and feline intuition, Patience becomes Catwoman, a sleek and stealthy creature balancing on the thin line between good and bad.
"Like any wildcat, she's dangerous, elusive and untamed. Her adventures are complicated by a burgeoning relationship with Tom Lone (Benjamin Bratt), a cop who has fallen for Patience but cannot shake his fascination with the mysterious Catwoman, who appears to be responsible for a string of crime sprees plaguing the city."
Here's how the studio describes Constantine:
"Based on the DC Vertigo comic book Hellblazer, Constantine is a science-fiction suspense drama about renegade occultist John Constantine (Keanu Reeves), who has literally been to hell and back. When Constantine teams up with skeptical policewoman Katelin Dodson (Rachel Weisz) to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles."
Note that Constantine is 'based' on the comic, Catwoman presumably isn't.

'Quite who surgically attached his heart to his eyes remains something of a mystery...'

I am pretty much cheesed about that whole Keanu thing. To be fair it's not just the incredibly stupid casting and the annoying americanisation of the character that is peeing me off, i'm also annoyed at the tired old female side-kick thing and the relocation of everything to America. And the no smoking. I don't smoke... i think smoking is dumb... but John Constantine without a cigarette in his hand? What are they thinking?
Final thought: i would have wet myself with joy if they'd cast Gary Oldman as Constantine.
