The Authority
I am a big fan of The Authority as well as LOEG. I have the entire first volume of stories. Wondering what others thought of the second volume. Have heard a lot of negetive buzz on this, and am wondering if it is worth my time.

Re: The Authority
This is only my opinion but I've REALLY hated the "Second Volume" (even though, technically, I consider Vol. I the stories Warren wrote and Vol. II the ones Millar did. For me this latter atrocity would be Vol. III).
In many ways it seems to me as if the current writer simply missed the whole point. He just included a lot of of the F-word and a lot of mindless violence (admittedly, I haven't hated the art as much as everyone else seems to), and that's it. That's an Authority story for him.
Gone, apparently, are the sheer sense of anarchic, in-your-face fun and the characterizations. Let's be honest, the characterizations in Ellis and Millar were never really deep, that was never the point, but you more or less cared about these people (even if I had some problems with some of their simplistic politics).
In the end, though, I'm thinking you should judge by yourself. Buy the first storyarc (I can't believe they're very expensive and/or hard to find), and make up your mind.
For myself, I've cut that title from my monthly list.

Re: The Authority
It's not THAT bad. Besides, Ed Brubaker is about to become the new writer. It can only go up from here!

Re: The Authority
What are some other titles from Ed Brubaker? People are discussing him as the coming savior of The Authority, but I am not familiar with the name.
What has he worked on that I might have seen?

Re: The Authority
Sleeper (it just finished its first 12-issue "season" ). A GREAT read.
He also writes Catwoman, a title everybody raves about (though I've never read it, so I can't help you there. )
He co-writes Gotham Central (some storyarcs, while others are written by Greg Rucka)

Ed Brubaker
Isn't the first trade of Sleeper coming out soon?
How would people describe that series? What's the basic plotline?
