Kev O'Neill Pays The Bills

Evening all-

God, town was crowded today! I stopped in at the new Forbidden Planet remainder store and picked up issue 1 of Toxic for a mere 20p, and found myself pining for the days of a good British bad taste comic book... Aah- Kev O'Neill, Banx, Simon Bisley, Pat Mills and Mike McMahon, all given free rein to do as the wanted. In full colour, and self coloured too! Sheer bloody greatness, and just 20p! I haven't paid that little since I was ^ so high.

Oh and Kev'll be doing an in store signing this thursday, 6-7pm. Not that that'll interest anyone.

Kevin's Law

On a Kevin O/Toxic (Grr..! emoticon Bargain..) sort of semi-note, does anyone have an ear to the ground as far as future 'Marshal Law' projects are concerned..?!

I managed to hunt down most of the crossovers the other day [Mask, Pinhead, Savage Dragon..], and in the back of the most recent, Mr Mills said words to the effect of 'Kevin will be working with Alan Moore for the next little while..', and then either he or a fan postulated that the next crossover will/should be "Judge Dredd/Marshal Law"!

So... with the vague possibility that Mr O'Neill is non-Leaguing for a moment (hopefully not, clearly, but..)... what are the odds of more Law..?

Haven't a clue but anything by Kev's worth waiting for It would be nice to see a Judge Dredd/Marshal Law crossover.

I felt the crossovers were the beginning of the end for the dear old Marshal- though they had their moments, such as the 'Symphony of suffering' in the pinhead one.
I'd prefer to see a strong stand-alone storyline than something so directly reliant on someone else's characters.

Next Query: Marshal Lore

OK... next question:

Marshal Law: Hateful Dead

How many comics..?! emoticon

The 'Complete List' I found on the internet said 'One', and yet when I bought it, it's BOOK ONE 'To be continued...'. Moreover, I'm sure I read the whole thing in one of the collections, so.. was it finished *for* the collection, or is there another comic out there somewhere..?! emoticon

There were two books- the story began in Toxic, explaining all the Toxic! logos popping up everywhere, then disappeared to re-emerge as the Hateful Dead one shot, concluding with the excellent Super Babylon.

Aren't they in one of the new collections?
I never saw the second parts of the Mask/Marshal Law or the Secret Tribunal ANWHERE! I assume they exist though. Anyone know a decent online UK retailer?

One of the best things about the Marshal was Kev's use of colour- I knew his glorious black and white work from 2000ad, but the use of colour in Marshal law still blow me away. Shame the League never got the executive colour treatment (apart from a few endpapers).

Yes. Hateful Dead AND Super Babylon (together with the somewhat rare Kingdom of the Blind) come in the Blood, Sweat and Fears TPB released last year by Titan.
The second issues of the Marshal Law/The Mask crossover, and the Secret Tribunal mini are included in the Fear Asylum TPB that came out this year from Titan.
The individual issues (from Dark Horse) also exist.
I agree with the poster above: the crossovers were really the beginning of the end for Marshal Law. There WERE some neat moments on the Pinhead story (NOT reprinted in ANY of the new collections, so far), but the ones with The Mask and the Savage Dragon really were atrocious, IMHO (and I DO like The Mask and particularly the Savage Dragon)
I only bought the Fear Asylum TPB to get the Marshal law Takes Manhattan story from the Crime & Punishment GN from Epic from 89 which I never did could find.

Ok.... now I'm a little confused..! (Surely not! emoticon)

What you're saying is that Toxic were going to print Pt 1 and Pt 2, BUT... they only did Pt 1, and not Pt 2...?
Then Dark Horse printed Pts 1&2 together..?
Or did Toxic not print either?
Or did Dark Horse print 'Hateful Dead' and 'Super Babylon' as Pts 1 & 2 respectively..?! emoticon emoticon
[I got 'Hateful Dead', but it says 'To be continued in Part 2 <something about> Zombies...' at the back... emoticon)

Yes, but like a fool I thought the separate bits would work out cheaper - and as Kobe, et al. have been saying.. not everything's been collected yet.. emoticon

They do, I've got them. emoticon The bestest online place I've found... (don't buy the ones I'm after, please! :P) is SilverAcre.com. emoticon
