This is my newest acqusition, soon to be named The Nippulinimobile! I know you're all probably laughing so hard, you're losing control of your bodily functions, but yes... it is a Pinto. Down the line I plan on chopping it into a pick up truck (a la El Camino) and dropping a short block V8 into it. You're all probably saying "Nips, you have watched one too many 'Monster Garage' episodes." Well, you're right I have. But the whimsical qualities that this type of car has can pull it off. Speaking of pulling, this baby is light enough I can tow it (nipples) if I ever need. I know that's more "on topic" than off, but I had to. Meanwhile, I can also fully load this baby with original equipment dirt cheap (power locks, accessories, etc.). This one is a keeper, and it's fun as Hell!

Check out my Pinto Page on my website, it will keep track of the progress of the car to truck transformation.

The project is slightly on hold, the engine is pissing coolant from the back end (?). It's getting checked out and possibly repaired. I'll keep everybody updated on it. Thanks for showing interest.

Okay, so the coolant thing was no problem. A 3 inch piece of tubing needed replacement. So I load up all my gear (well over 250 pounds) into the Pinto and head on out for the Gathering. About an hour into the drive we hit an incline that just stalled the car. I pop the hood, smoke pours out... I check the engine... it's clean fine and okay, but there's still smoke coming out. I duck my head under the chassis and see the catalytic converter bursting into flames. Remember folk, this is a PINTO! So I threw gravel onto it until it went out. Long story short, I got to the Gathering 7 hours late and $200 lighter.

PINTO UPDATE: Bad carbueretor caused fire - rebuilding. Catalytic converter to be removed and replace with a Hooker header... oh yeah! emoticon

Hooker header sounds like it has nothing to do with cars and more to do with a cheap night in a back alley.emoticon

So instead of rebuilding why not just drop that v8 in it now? Should take care of all the issues up front! (As well as lighten the pockets a bit.)
Any ideas for the paint job to go with the mods? I used to do some body work, and have always wanted to see a tatooed and pierced car.. might be a showey kind of idea for a Nip-pinto!

Cheers and Regards,

Heh heh, good one Pele the Female. The V8 drop will definitely hit the pocket HARD, so I am opting for recondition the car first, then a possible engine swap. I am also scrapping the idea of the truck chop (happy now, Bennie?). I am thinking of fabricating some giant metal nipples and attaching rings to them. I even have a small aluminum anvil (about 4 inches) I plan on turning into a hood ornament. I'm still waiting on the carb rebuild before I go any further. Thanks for the interest.
