Board Shutting Down? A Plea
Hi David,
At first I thought to email this to you privately, but then thought perhaps others might want to chime in.
I read on Slim's that you are concidering closing down this forum.
I understand the time it takes away from performance work, and life in general.
However, I want to voice my opinion that it would truly suck if you did shut this down.
I hate to say it but some of "those who shall remain nameless" are truly destroying Slim's for many of us who want to talk shop.
This is a place of welcoming, sharing and pretty much keeping on topic. Even when we don't all agree it is done in a way that is managable, without pettiness and name calling.
It is a place full of respect, for the art, for sharing and for one another as artists...and not because we demand it but because we have earned it.
This has come to be a haven for several to share.
I for one would not be communicating with half the people I do if not for this forum, and I can not thank you enough for it.
And if I had any ounce of technical prowess in my system, I would offer to help lighten the load...but alas I am a techno-idiot. Perhaps someone else on here might offer to help split admin duties with you? I don't know.
What I do know is that while Slim's is near and dear to everyone's hearts, even in its disrupted state, so is this site. No matter what you decide to do with it, thank you.
Thank you for the time and effort you have put into us.
Thank you for all the thought and support you have put into the community.
Thank you for spanking us around when we needed it (okay, well...I can hope!  ).

I'd agree to that. It's my opinion that Slims board is now a chat board, with very little "shop talk" going on. Even when there is, you have to search hard through the posts that say I'm better than you, or you're a ....... Here, people can get their questions answered intelligently, without all that. For this, I'm thankful to you and the posters here.

Hi everyone
Thanks for starting this topic Pele, it is good to know that people don't want to see this place vanish. I only just noticed the thread otherwise I would have replied sooner.
I have been getting increasingly sick of forums and chatrooms for the last few months, mainly due to the persistent attacks on me by a few people (I think we all know who!) at Slims, these attacks have been very personal at times, and I have been considering dropping out of the internet scene entirely, if not perminatly then at least for a while.
However with Slims gone, I think this place should stay, many of the people who post here have been wonderful in the amount of help and advise they have offered me, this place was supposed to be a way of giving them something in return, if I suddenly take it away again what kind of a repayment is that?
Thankfully I have yet to see anything but the smallest problems here, and those have been easily dealt with, people have been decent to each other, and got along like the family we are supposed to be. I would like to thank everyone for that.
