Reactions to the blockhead

I was doing the blockhead one day and a mum with her two kids was part of a rather small audience. (it was getting late.) I had just finished putting the nail in and the woman first covered ther kids eyes, then dragged them out of the tent.
Does anyone else have reactions to this or anything else that stand out?

Re: Reactions to the blockhead

I performed blockhead earlier today. I had a nice big crowd. I got a bunch of gasps, groans, and averted or covered eyes. Nobody to my knowledge was offended though. It seemed like the people who were the most squeamish, and disgusted by it were also the most fascinated by it.

I get a lot of reactions when I do it. If it's part of my torture show for Ren-faires, then I start off doing it as an extremely disgusting thing and turn it into something funny. In my sideshow, the worst reaction I ever got was a guy throwing up after seeing it. Usually, like Danny, ijust get the moans and groans..

When I do it as part of a show, it gets all the screams, groans etc that you really hope for. But nothing too extreme (never had a puke yet emoticon )

But once I did it when for my local business group where I was representing the copywriting agency that I run. One person had heard of my sideshow performing and, as luck would have it, I had a nail in my suit pocket. Took off a shoe and whacked it in. One lady screamed so loudly that every conversation in the room stopped as people turned to look. She went a wierd green/ grey colour and sprinted to the bog to heave. Got people talking...

I performed Blockhead as a contestant on "The Gong Show" at the Pa. Ren. Faire's Blast From The Past weekend this past Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I took 2nd place. Sunday got gonged. Both days I had a number of people wanting to see me do it again after the show. I guess every crowd is different.

I did blockhead at this anual biker rally, when I did it the next year they made me sign a contract that said I would "omit the nail-in-the-nose bit"

I always knew bikers weren't as hard as they act, but DAMN!

Ses,

How about that reaction to the eye hooks at the Rockfest this year though. emoticon

I still think it's funny that the club's security had to look the other way throughout most of your show. They sure would have done a lot of good if someone jumped up to give those eye hooks a little extra tug!!

That's the only act that reeally makes me cringe. emoticon Still, it's a good one to watch and to see the reactions of the audience is entertainment in itself.

When I do the blockhead I get a decent reaction, but the really big response comes when I remove the nail and lick it off. emoticon

Adding eye-socket-weight-lifting to the act ensured that every body would cringe at one point in our show.
