Human Dartboard

So far I have gone through five people throwing darts for the human dartboard act. Unfortunately I've had people who really were bad shots. During one practice a dart went wild and hit me in the funnybone. Imagine the feeling of hitting your funnybone really hard but it doesn't stop until you get the dart pulled out.

Hey Crispy
HooBoy do I know what you mean with the Human Dartboard. I usually try to grab someone to throw for me before the show so I can take them backstage for an instructional and a few practice shots. But even with the rehearsals, I have been hit in the arms, neck, back of the head, and in the ass more than once. One dart flew over my shoulder and stuck into the head of the microphone I was using. I make sure that the audience is well away from the stage for that act. If it can't be done safely as far as the audience goes, I ain't gonna do it.

Man I just wouldn't trust audience members, although some of my "trained" plants don't do so well I couldn't imagine using someone I didn't know. It's been bad enough being hit in the funny bone or a couple times it's hit bone in the shoulder blades. The Idea of the head or neck is really disturbing.

Re: Human Dartboard

I do usually try to grab someone I know or someone who has done the act in the past with me but being a solo performer, that isn't always possible when I am on the road performing. I try to get the promoter to arrange an 'assistant' that I can 'train' before the show but even that is not always possible. If I can't arrange someone to rehearse with before the show, I just drop that act for that performance. I may be crazy but I ain't 'that' crazy...
