One of Those Days
We've all had them. One of those days where it seems like the very fates have aligned against you? I had a fire show at a Ren Faire feel very much that way once.
There were several interesting things that happened...
My original stage assignment had a canopy over it, great for fire breathing. So they moved me to an open space, and then lined it with hay bales for people to sit on. Another stroke of brilliance on managements part that had to be changed...you know, things like that? No big deal, just really annoying.
So Saturday we (performers) were sitting around the fire at camp, shoes off, talking about the day, comparing patron stories and such. Much fun to be had, drinks all around, shoes off and the fire warming the toes on a crisp evening.
About time for bed I slide my foot into my shoe and feel something sharp prick it. I didn't think too much of it, figuring a random rock had found it's way in there, and I went to bed in my tent.
The next morning my foot had swollen and ached quite a bit. I was quite dizzy and very nausious.
The medics were called down to camp and low and behold, I had been bitten by a poisonous spider, found smooshed in my shoe. I ended up hobbling my way through my second show (first one was cancelled until I could get my bearing back), and in the photo's you can see the bandage on my foot.
It was stupid and strange, and in retrospect almost amusing!
