The WAR LOVER ! B-17's & The Mighty Eighth !

Being a long time member of The Mighty Eighth Historical Society here in states, any film about the role of the Eighth in WWII catches my notice. Based on the book by John Hersey follow's the story of the crew from "The Body" and its hotshot pilot , Capt Buzz Rickson played by Steve McQueen. Robert
Wagner plays Rickson co-pilot, 1st Lt Ed Bolland. I believe the film has use of three or four real B-17's and sadly one or two were destroyed after the films completion. All warbird lovers go into deep depression on this one. Yes, there is a love story in the movie as well (lovely British actress Shirley Anne Field) falls for Lt Bolland. Good scenes filmed at Cambridge for this part of the movie. You watch the rest of the film to see what happens to all parties involved. Great action scenes of B-17's in flight.....! Its out on DVD now !
