Probability Zero - 1969.

Though Sgt Slaughter may disagree, you pretty much know what to expect with Italian-made war films. Generally they are 90 odd minutes of routine, cheaply made action. Usually consisting of various parties of goodies and badies shooting each other from behind rocks. Of my 20+ Italian made films only a few in my opinion are actually good solid war films; Deadly Mission (aka Inglorious Bastards) is one, and others include Eagles Over London and Dirty Heroes.

Well I can now add Probability Zero to this list, a 1969 movie that stars Henry Silva. The movie is set in Norway and has a crack team of Allies sent to blow up an underground Nazi factory where the Germans have taken a crashed Spitfire that contains a new radar system that the krauts want to copy. The plot is exciting with elements taken from Guns of Navarone, 633 Squadron and Heroes of Telemark. The film is action-packed and there are plenty of soldiers in the background on both sides, and the location filming is great - though probably not Norway.

Though there is no character development, for once the dubbing is undistracting, and the action flows nicely using interestingly varied locations.

I won't spoil the plot with too much detail, but this is definitely a film to watch and enjoy.
