posticon Greetings all... TC checking in from the Colonies !!!!

Great site Paul & about time someone came up with a site to help all discuss, sell,
trade and pass along info on military films, documentaries and traditional war films. The one film I am hoping they put out on DVD soon is, the 1965 B&W film "Up From The Beach". Its a film starring Cliff Robertson, Red Buttons and a very lovely french actress, Irina Demick. I have a bad copy from television back in the 1980's . Hope we see this film restored and put out on the DVD Market soon. My main interest in D-Day and I have tired to collect every video or DVD documentary I can on the subject. Blessed this past year (2004) with new titles on Normandy. The best was the BBC production of D-Day "6-6-44". I have both the US & UK versions and while they basically use the same material,, the pal version sold in Europe is much better. Just added two DVD's found here in the states about combat in the ETO. The first site is a documentary producer I have come to know and have a great deal of respect for, Larry
Cappetto has a great website for his work at
http://www.veteranshistory.org/ He has two DVD documentaries on D-Day and one in the works on Iwo Jima. I have both of them and can say they are fine productions, with very moving comments by many veterans who were there at Omaha Beach.
The second DVd documentary I just picked up this past week, is a wonderful story of a GI from a small town in eastern North Carolina in the USA. Its about his death in combat in late 1945 and how a Dutch family came to adopte this grave of this man and care for it the last 60 years.

Its a very emotional documentary and tells the story of this man from North Carolina, even has an interview with a German veteran who fought in this battle with US forces. Filmed in North Carolina and Europe, even has extras on the making of the documentary.

That's my contribution this time...more to come....look forward to discussing the many aspects of documentaries and war films with you all.
