posticon The Hill/or A hill in Korea

I watched this film and thought it was great. it's about a squad of British soldiers in korea. they are out on patrol and get trapped in a korean shrine and have to hold out against the communists.

It has quite a few famous British stars in their early days.

Hi,
You're talking about A HILL IN KOREA, The Hill is the one one set in a British prison in WWII with Sean Connery.

A HILL IN KOREA is a cracking film, with as you so correctly say a patrol of British Infantry surrounded on a hill. The cast is stunning, George Baker stars as the Lieutenant, he still stars as Inspector Wexford in crime dramas on British TV. In the cast are Harry Andrews, Michael Caine, Stephen Boyd (a year before he made Ben Hur), Robert Shaw, Robert Brown and of course Stanley Baker.

Interestingly Michael Caine appeared in this just after his real service in Korea with the British Army. Stanley Baker remembered Caine a few years later when casting Zulu, and gave him the role of Bromhead. The rest as they say is history!!!
