The Tap
Any other gigging bands on here play The Tap?
Is it me or has that place gone downhill?
When they had the stage, there seemed to be a good crowd and atmosphere and it was an enjoyable gig (despite the bl00dy decibel limiter!).
Now the stage has gone and we get stuck at the far end en-route to the respective toilets, and the smoke is so thick in the place its enough to choke you (I'm a non-smoker) and makes singing hard... why don't they just switch on those large extractors??
it almost seems to have become a passing pub, that people drop into on their way way to/from other venues/clubs/pubs.
Interested to hear other players views.

I didnt know they had removed the stage?! Why, why why why why would you do that, it was a great stage to play on and made it different from most of the pub venues over here?
The Tap always was a passing place, although still a great pub. Much better than the others down the road that seem to get the same old tired cr*p in weekly.
I like the Tap and would recommend it as a great music venue.

Well in fairness I think they intend to build a new stage at the far end of the room, but it seems like it might be a bit of a long term project!
Now we've had some great nights at The Tap, but it just seems that lately the @rse has fallen out of it a little.
As for the 'others down the road', I actually quite enjoy playing there... as it 'appens.

I didnt say it wasnt fun. It just seems they get the same old bands in week in week out.
At least the Tap tries to get new talent.

I have heard they are putting a new stage in where the dj box is. the sound limiter is arse though, for sure, mind you the last gig i saw there rocked, and it did'nt trip it out once!!!

Yeah, I agree, it does seem to have gone downhill. We play at the Tap and I've noticed a drop in numbers....It's probably all the wrong notes I'm playing however!!!!
