'ONE BIG GIG'! 2 DAY MINI FESTIVAL FEATURING ISLAND BANDS & DJ'S SMALLBROOK STADIUM 12 & 13 AUGUST!
"ONE BIG GIG" IS A 2 DAY MINI FESTIVAL TO BE HELD AT SMALLBROOK STADIUM 12 & 13 AUGUST FEATURING 20 ORIGINAL ISLANDS BANDS AND DJ's!
Gates open 12 noon - 12midnight.
IT'S GONNA BE FAB!
Much more than just a 'gig' - it's a REAL little Island festival with lots more going on - tents, stands (including band merchandise),
'MAD HATTERS TEA PARTY'!!! - come in a mad hat!! Giant games, beer tent, food, tarot, body art, tipi's for chilling out, holistic therapies, kids learning thru music, circus skills, etc. etc...!!
Some of the bands signed up so far are:
Kody, Preacher Joe, Jacuna, Sentence to Rebirth, Bastila, Finger Monster, Carousel Era, Heterodox, The Operators, Skyline Heros, Plushy Edwards, For Wanda, Equity, 3dom, Steve Heath, Jon Betchly, Martinez, DJ's: Nathan Kyle and Jules Dent, Phil Smith, DJ Antwan plus many more to be confirmed...
Tickets can be bought NOW at Smallbrook Box office on 811180 or 07980 082234. Prices are:
Adult Weekend £25, Adult Day £15, Child Weekend £15, Child Day £8.

I emailed that address twice now - No response.
Either they don't get my email, or the Big Gig is a closed shop - Shame - We are an island band just starting out, I thought they'd be interested.

If you want to call lack of attendance a 'flop'.
The gig, the bands, the festival itself, the vibe and those who did attend, including the bands, thought it was brilliant and had a great time.
the bands, the sound and stage were all excellent!
Hopefully next year, more people will come to what they missed out on this year..
Every festival has to start somewhere....
Did you go and help support our top island bands and DJ's?
Maybe next time, ay?...

Actually I know and support many of them, but without dishing out £25.
It was a remark I kept hearing when I asked about 'why pay to see bands, that you can see for free in the pubs all of the time?' - NOT my words, but what people were saying........

It's a shame that with all the talent on the island at the moment it all ends up being about money rather than the music! The price of the festival was to see 22 bands and 8 dj's, the festival and event itself!
weather or not you can see these bands in pubs, it was a massive showcase to have all the top island bands to play on one stage together (that you dont get in pubs)! Its a pitty that poeple are in the mindset that money should stop the support of your fellow musicians! If everyone had that same attitude then island bands would never get anywhere! It was a fantastic idea to start an island festival for island bands to have the chance to be seen and play at there very own festival! of course there will be bands that you have seen play before, but whats the problem with that, don't people go to see bands that they like more than once then!
Can't believe the negative attitude towards something that is supposed to be to celebrate island talent and for everyone who loves music to get involved in, NOT to slag the organisers who tried so damn hard to produce something for the MUSIC!!!!!
the vibe at the festival was fantastic and all the bands that played had a blast and have told us to keep trying and that they will all be involved in next years!
sorry for those of you that missed out on a fab couple of days with the fantastic bands that played and all the supporters that did turn up...thank you.
