Isle of Wight Radio

Are they getting lazy? When was the last time you heard a good quality session from one of the IW Radio DJ's - introducing new and not so commercialised music from all over the UK least of all Isle of Wight Musicians? I think they need to pull their finger out and give us something else to listen to other than the usual chartpop - which has its place, admittedly, but if I have to hear another of Robbie Williams songs I'll go mad!

Agreed, lets hear some homebrew that special to the Island, pull a finger of two and show a bit of creativity.

Couldn't agree more. There's enough good talent locally without continually pandering to the over played and over hyped pop industry.

Mind you, the 'DJs' talking inane rubbish or giving their opinionated view of the world does put me off the station altogether anyway!

I reckon you are asking for a lot there tho! they can barely get through a radio show without playing an advert over a song or having a 5 second silent pause at the end of a track. It aint rocket science guys and gals!

funniest thing ever this week tho when the Power FM news chap announced that playing the festival would be coldplay and the FOOD fighters!!

Oh and worth checking out the post in the island bands forum about Driving South being played on Portsmouths Quay Radio this weekend.

I think its a shame that our local radio couldnt have played it first. You have had the disc for months guys and gals!

OK, I agree that the local talent is not played enough. So how about we start a little petition of our own on this site? When we've enough responses saying they want island music played, I'm sure the nice people at Wightvibe will help out by contacting the station. emoticon

Just noting that whilst listening to iw radio yesterday, i heard Robbies "Let me Entertain You" played twice within a space of three hours

do iw radio get royalties for playing his stuff too?

i'm going to have to change stations

there are gajillions of tunes out there, and all they play is Robbie

puke
