| | Personal bio: | My testimony: I've always believed, as long as I can remember, but I didn't always follow Christ. Still, I thought I was a Christian, long before I ever really was.
It was when I actually read the entire Bible that I got serious about my beliefs and realized there was more to it than just saying I believe.
I realized the importance of repentance, and what sin really was. Not just some general term of something that everyone has done and been forgiven for - no big deal. No, not at all. It was a personal rebellion against the loving God who had created me, and a very big deal.
It wasn't an offense against man when I told a lie, but a sin against the holy eternal Creator of the universe. That's why hell is eternal torment, because we've sinned against an eternal God. And hell is exactly what we all deserve.
It was my disobedience that Jesus suffered and died for, taking my place, paying the penalty that I deserved. When I understood this, I could really comprehend sin as exceedingly sinful (Romans 7:13 ) and truly see my hopelessness. Then I could understand the sacrifice, and begin to grasp what was done for us, and what I had to do to accept it.
The Lord has been working in me slowly, over a long period of time, and continues to do so. |
